We worked with Melanie on a redesign of our central, open living space which included a significant demolition and reconstruction of our outdated fireplace. Melanie was absolutely wonderful to work with. She is a consummate professional with a depth of knowledge and connections in every area of interior design. In addition to her brilliant aesthetic and ideas, she has access to a network of contractors and other professionals who were some of the best we've ever worked with. Without her knowledge and savvy, we would have never foreseen certain pitfalls that could have easily derailed our more novice vision. And as an added bonus, she is delightful company and a very kind human being. All in all, it was a relaxed and enjoyable process, and Melanie's input proved invaluable and essential to its success.

Working with Melanie was a great experience. We love how our house turned out and the process of getting it there was really enjoyable and smooth sailing. Melanie has great taste but also really listens to what you want and then can transform your home into something that reflects your tastes but is also timeless. We hired her because we found it intimidating to make such expensive decisions but Melanie made us feel really confident every step of the way. Everyone she brought to the house was professional and great at their job. Would absolutely recommend her, and actually already have.

Mel was awesome. Truly such amazing taste but also incredibly creative and resourceful as well. We had a new house that had an average flip from some contractors and she came in and added so many specific details to make it feel more unique and detailed. She also really helped us understand the comfort/ design balance and our house is now exactly what we always dreamed of. Couldn’t recommend her more.

My wife and I hired Mel to decorate our 3 bedroom home in Silverlake a few months back. We knew what we liked but we did not know how to make it all come together and it was honestly super stressful and overwhelming before we found her. Mel pretty much saved our marriage! She is soooo amazing at hearing what you like and then translating it into a full design plan that works. Every single person who comes over is wowed. It’s awesome, people think we have amazing design inclinations and it’s all because we hired Mel. And also probably more importantly, we love it and are so comfortable here. Couldn’t recommend her more.

I loved working with Mel! She was recommended to us by friends who had previously worked with her and we were so grateful they passed her name along to us after we bought our first house. Hiring Mel was a great decision – she has a unique, individual style that isn’t too trend-based and was wonderful at incorporating/navigating our personal wants and needs as well. She helped us create a home that is not only impressive for hosting, but also a comfortable and cozy space for the family. Mel is great at gently providing feedback and alternatives to ideas that may not work with the space, but also super accommodating to pieces we loved that she knew would be great for the house. I love that the house feels uniquely ours and not just another trendy pinterest photo.

Melanie is absolutely fantastic to work with. Over COVID I got sick of some furnishing choices I had made in 2018 and just couldn't look at them any more! I had seen Melanie's work on Instagram and thought she was the right person to bring a more calm and soothing palette to my existing furniture and help me make changes to some key pieces that would bring my vision to life. Melanie NAILED this project and my house is even more stunning than before! I am really happy with Melanie! I have several more ideas of other rooms I want her to tackle next. Melanie is also very responsive to emails and texts and does a lot of research and provides detailed emails on next steps. I highly recommend her! :-)

Working with Melanie was a dream! I moved over the summer and was overwhelmed by the idea of doing a four bedroom home on my own. Melanie held my hand through the entire process and I have to say the result is AMAZING...the space is cohesive, beautiful, cozy and functional. She listened to what I wanted and then came up with design ideas that I never would have come up with own my own (and she was able to source and order most things for me which made my life SO much easier). She was responsive and communicative, not to mention super fun to be around (that was a perk!). Can you tell I really liked her? I can't recommend her enough! I have referred her to literally all my friends. Definitely work with her!

I initially hired Melanie to help me with a problem room in my house. She rebranded the room the sunroom that created a purpose for the room. She listened to my concerns and was very patient with my concerns about kid-friendly fabrics. She was is great about giving options at different price points, using things I already have, and paying attention to budget. She also mixed in some standout vintage chairs which I love. I now have a modern, chic, kid-friendly, but adult room that repurposed a piece of art I already had to tie it all together. From there, Melanie helped me revamp my bedroom with the centerpiece being a built in cabinet in an odd nook that was formerly the closet. I now have a peaceful room in a modern color palate with a showpiece built in. Melanie is communicative, responsive and on time which is super helpful. She will mention ideas, but doesn't push you into something that isn't you. I have recommended her to my friends with projects and I'm sure I will use her in the future.

Working with Mel was such a good experience. We hired her to design our 3 bedroom home in West Hollywood and she knocked it out of the park. First of all it turned out so beautifully and we love being here with our family. Second, she was a blast to work with. She can just see things us normal people can't see and then she makes a small suggestion of a built in or a slight change to make and suddenly the whole room is comfortable and has purpose. I couldn't recommend her more.

I have worked with Melanie on a number of projects, and I can’t recommend her highly enough. She designed my Echo Park cottage in 2017 and as much as I love changing things around, I never once found myself doing that in the 5 years I lived there. Everything from layout & furniture to art selection was perfectly me, and everyone who visited that house was awed by how comfortable & inviting the space was. Flash forward to 2021, I moved to a home about twice the size and enlisted Melanie once again. It’s no surprise that all of the pieces she selected for my old space fit seamlessly into a new house with completely different architectural bones, a testament to the timelessness of her work. We had to furnish a couple new rooms: my office and my step-kids’ room. As I’m a person who isn’t in love with kids decor, Melanie was able to take our style and (most importantly) the children’s needs to create a happy space that flows naturally with the rest of the house. Melanie is my designer for life, I look forward to many more projects and future homes with her.

Melanie is extremely professional as an interior designer and supports your vision of your home while adding her unique style! She assisted my husband & I in full interior design and project management of our 4 bed 4.5 bath house in Los Angeles. This included styling every room from scratch, making cosmetic changes to the interior including custom building a bar and special furniture pieces. She incorporated our aesthetic and theme for the house exceptionally. When we needed to pivot or something didn’t come out as we envisioned, she was there to figure out a solution! I highly recommend her for any interior design projects.

I first worked with Melanie many years ago to design a new two-bedroom apartment. The process of working with her was fun, exciting, and so easy. She worked with me to understand my style, vision, and budget and used her expertise to put together beautiful designs that I loved living in for many years. Of course, when I moved into a bigger home that needed some remodeling, Melanie was the first person I called. She made the overwhelming process of a bathroom, kitchen, and dining room remodel easy and fun. With her work in these new spaces and her styling in the rest of the house, I once again live in a space I love. I can't recommend Melanie Burstin Designs enough!

Melanie is a gem. She has incredible taste, a unique perspective and you can see the devotion to her work in everything that she does. As a writer about art and design for more than a decade, I know that my taste is different than most and Melanie completely understands that. She sources pieces that feel like me and creates spaces that are both inviting and interesting, all while sticking to our budget. Working with her is always an incredible and insightful experience from start to finish. So much so that in the past we've done our bedrooms, offices and living room with her, and we're now working on our kitchen and three bathrooms. I cannot wait to see those dreams become reality.
