Ohana Banerjee Designs

I was initially quite sceptical about using an interior designer and wasn’t entirely convinced how much value one could add. Working with Ohana completely changed my view. What impressed me most was that she thought far beyond the building work itself. She took the time to understand how our family actually lives and uses the house, and helped us think through how each space would work not just now, but in the future as our needs change. Time and again she challenged assumptions, suggested better solutions and helped us avoid decisions that would likely have resulted in costly changes later on. Looking back, I think she saved us a significant amount of time, money and frustration by getting things right first time. The result is a home that feels practical, flexible and genuinely future-proofed. Ohana has an exceptional eye for detail and design, but what really sets her apart is her ability to combine creativity with practicality. She worked seamlessly with the wider team and always kept sight of the bigger picture. She was also an absolute joy to work with throughout the project – thoughtful, responsive, professional and genuinely invested in achieving the best outcome for us. We are delighted with the result and would not hesitate to recommend her to others.

Inspirational design ideas. Created a fabulous space for our family to enjoy!

I worked with Ohana on the complete renovation and extension to our 1920s house. She was absolutely amazing in working out what we needed, how we could work best with the space and how to decorate and furnish it in a way that was super practical, well thought through and absolutely beautiful. She has a real eye for detail, is thoughtful and considered and just has an amazing eye for what will work and what to avoid. She is also a genuinely lovely person and a real pleasure to work with. She also worked really well with the architect she recommended, with our builder and decorator to make everything come together to a high quality finish. We really love our new space that now really works for us as a family. I’d highly recommended working with Ohana.

It feels like she's given us a new house. The workshop helped us to understand what had been making our home feel unfinished for the last 5 years. We love the changes she suggested and it saved us so much time and money making a plan with her. She really took the time to understand us and the changes she suggested were affordable and achievable and gave us confidence to get going straight away. Thank you so much ohana, worth every penny. Highly recommended.

We found Ohana's website after seeing her board outside a house that looked like it was being renovated nicely. We did a design workshop with her to help us solidify our ideas, gain new ideas and avoid pitfalls. Ohana gave us some good ideas and helped us to avoid or reconsider bad ideas: she kept us on the straight and narrow. Most importantly she gave us one piece of really good advice: make use of what you have! For example, she showed us how to not waste money on making changes that would be very expensive to implement when there is a simpler and cheaper alternative that is just as effective and much more cost-effective. And soon after the workshop I discovered just how right she was when I got the builder's quote for such a design that my architect had drawn up: it was expensive! I'm now changing that design to a simpler, cheaper one to implement. So I would thoroughly recommend using Ohana in conjunction with your architect - this way you can ensure your design and building costs are sensible.

Ohana was involved in my kitchen renovation from the beginning. Initially I was going to have a large-ish extension, but it proved to be too expensive. Ohana helped me achieve a feeling of an extension through her ideas of light and space. She also has a great understanding of how a family would use the space. She fuses design with functionality. How a home is really used. She also has fantastic ideas on colour. Finally, I felt Ohana listened to my brief and helped me execute it every time I had a wobble! She has been a great person to bounce ideas with especially with her extensive knowledge of interior design. I would highly recommend working with her.

Ohana saved us a huge amount of money by guiding our house-purchase decision. Without her advice we would have had no idea of the cost of what seemed like simple changes to a property we nearly bought. Instead she helped us develop plans for another more straightforward renovation. We're delighted with the outcome, which would not have been the same without Ohana's mix of practical advice and inspiration.

The design that Ohana provided for our garage conversion - studio flat was perfect from both a practical and aesthetic perspective. She had a small space to work with, but came up with not just a great kitchenette and shower room but some really nice features such as an electric velux roof window - letting in so much light and air. Her project management was highly professional - very organised, thorough and communicative. I have no hesitation in recommending her unreservedly and would enjoy working with her again should the need arise.

I consulted Ohana because the arrangement of the living space in my house wasn’t working for our family of 5. Ohana had a wonderful way of helping me to clarify what I wanted from my living space, she really listened to what I was trying to achieve and thoughtfully questioned me about how I was going to use my house. As a result I made some changes that hadn’t occurred to me and did not do other alterations that originally I thought I definitely wanted! Thanks to her suggestions we saved a significant amount of money and have a beautiful genuinely multi purpose family friendly living space. I am delighted with the results and would throughly recommend consulting her before under taking any project. Hannah, Lewes
