Sam and Jamie excelled on this project. We have three children and work full time jobs so nothing happens in our household without help. Sam and Jamie provided their support in spades (and beyond their direct scope). They were highly professional and adept at working within COVID limitations. They delivered an exceptional outcome, in a short time period. We asked that they decorate a plain new build (white walls, beige carpet) 4 bedroom mid-terrace. The space is is now light, airy and has multiple living zones. It is a delight to be in-critical for lock-down. Our input was sought in defined chunks throughout the design process so it was not intrusive or onerous. Jamie used Virtual Reality software to show how designs would look. This accelerated the process and provided us with a high degree of confidence that we were making the right decisions. This was a key differentiator for us. We focus on sustainability in our work and lives and extended this challenge to Sam and Jamie. They embraced this without compromising the end result (e.g. re-using existing items; sourcing 2nd hand items or sustainably sourced items and even low VOC paint. Their level of energy and engagement was outstanding; they have high attention to detail and ensured a high quality outcome that far exceeded our expectations. They even impressed our kids; who kept asking when Sam and Jamie are coming back! The outcome is summarized by the word that my wife and I uttered when completed... "WOW!"

My wife and I found Sam Patience on the internet and hired him to design and supervise a renovation of our 1970’s house, from start to finish. The project included the full re-design of our study, two bedrooms, guest cloakroom, and entry hall as well as improvements to other rooms throughout the house. The work involved new desks, shelves, cupboards, and lighting, all of which had to be designed with a view to maximizing the use of limited space. Sam did a superb job in every respect. Throughout the project, he was careful and attentive, always listening to our preferences and concerns, and communicating very clearly. We were impressed not only by his creativity and aesthetic sense but also by his ability to suggest design options and materials that we had not even considered. His attention to detail was meticulous, no matter how much effort was required. He was absolutely professional in all his dealing with us, with suppliers, with contractors, and with craftsmen. With Sam’s help, we now have a streamlined modern house that is more comfortable, more beautiful, and more functional.

Sam worked with us on the remodelling of our kitchen. He was great! He helped us to work out the colour, texture and best use of our existing space. He was very personable and approachable and as the name says, patient. As a couple, we sometimes had crazy and opposing ideas. He was able to make sense of that, keep a balanced view, and incorporate those ideas into a beautiful design for us. We were so impressed with him, his work ethic and have also enjoyed his sense of humour and great style. We're hoping to have him design our living room next. We had some definite ideas on renovating our Victorian house and Sam has been the ideal design partner in this project. He is knowledgeable about both design trends and about what works. He is a good listener and tactful. He listened carefully to us and helped us figure out what was achievable and what wasn’t, what really mattered to us and what ideas we could discard. He provided endless advice and input, using helpful 3D renders to assist us in envisaging our proposals and patiently helping us refine our ideas, coping calmly as when we changed our minds entirely about some things. He has lots of knowledge and good ideas but never sought to impose his ideas over ours. So we still feel our house is our creation but we would not have managed the renovation so well without Sam’s guidance and input.

I found Sam through a personal recommendation, having seen some of his other work which I loved. I had already begun a complex ground floor rear extension and loft conversion, so Sam had the difficult task of coming up with ideas for composition and layout, all in a tight timeframe due to the build already progressing quickly. Having now completed my development, I can say Sam has far exceeded my expectations and I would unreservedly recommend him. My only regret is that I didn't ask for his help earlier in the build. I never intended to have an interior designer, as thought I had a clear design vision, but Sam changed my perception of what a designer brings. His approach was holistic, from thinking about how to use the space and suggesting design features through to textures and colours to bring it to life. Sam never pushed too hard in one direction and provided illustrations and source material to guide my thinking. He always worked within my budget and actually found ways to achieve a result beyond my expectations, for less money. I completely trusted Sam to alter designs to better use our space. Some examples of his influence are: - I planned to have a separate utility room next to the kitchen, but Sam cleverly incorporated the washing machine, dryer and clothes hanging space within the kitchen units to create clean lines and a much more open feel in the kitchen/diner. - Sam changed the island dimensions to create more balanced working spaces and walkways. - Sam changed the direction of door hanging to ensure maximum feeling of space and completely designed the lighting scheme. He also assisted on floor choice (we went with engineered oak) to provide a more luxurious feel and prepare for the 2nd fix. Overall, I am delighted with his work and will absolutely use him again on my next project.

We would wholeheartedly recommend Sam to anyone! We wanted a ground floor kitchen extension - a big project for us - and were concerned about getting the result we wanted, so needed an experienced design and project manager. Sam helped us to design and choose everything - the kitchen units, paint colours, the flooring, furniture and designed the bespoke cupboards. Sam was only interested in getting the best options for us. When we had chosen something he still researched better options based on his previous experience. For example, he found a better quality and looking flooring option, also when we decided at short notice to have a downdraft extractor he spent time researching and sourcing the quietist and cheapest option. Even after we had paid his final bill he still chased some outstanding items for us without being asked. We didn’t end up with the result we originally intended, we ended up with something much better thanks to Sam. We are very happy with it!

I asked Sam to resdesign my very tired, impractical and small kitchen in my flat. I needed him to find a good builder, and to source all the fixtures and fittings. Throughout the process Sam has been very thorough and organised, full of good ideas, but respectful of my own, and always available to talk through any issues. The kitchen is now finished, and I am delighted with the result.

We worked with Sam from Patience Designs for the complete renovation of our house. He was extremely reliable and always made himself available. We felt he thoroughly listened to our wishes and requirements and incorporated them to create the ideal living space for our needs. His use of 3D renders assisted us greatly in the process. Sam sourced and managed contractors for us at every stage of the refurbishment including structural. He designed every room including the kitchen, driveway and elements of the garden design. We benefited from his invaluable advice and much time spent on researching, choosing and sourcing virtually every item in the house including, flooring, lighting, furniture etc., handling all parts of the process in making sure that everything was up to standard (Sam’s are high!). It was an absolute pleasure to work with Sam in this project.

We have used Sam's company last year. Sam helped us design our new home including reupholstering sofas and chairs, colour coordinating, designing wardrobes with LEDs, framing photos, choosing wood floor and providing general design advice. I find that Sam has both practical and lovely ideas and a very good design sense. Sam is friendly, always available, on time and always tries to work on budget. Sam also uses 3D design software which really helps understanding how everything fits together. I would highly recommend him for his original ideas, his trustworthiness but also for the fact that he always tries to accommodate his design suggestions with the clients own personal taste and budget. Sam is a serious young professional who deserves to be successful.

Sam has transformed what was a tired and dated mansion flat into an ultra-modern living space which we love. The project involved a complete renovation and implementing a home automation system to run lighting, heating and digital music system in every room. His attention to detail and design aesthetics is remarkable. In every room and space in the house Sam took my vague ideas and developed them into practical, workable solutions which look stunning. In completing the renovation, Sam dealt with a wide range of contractors and suppliers, some of which proved to be very challenging. I found Sam following reading his excellent reviews on Houzz. After an initial design consultation, Sam made clear his creative ideas and practical solutions to help us renovate our family home in Dollis Hill. We went through an initial design period with Sam, helping make clear between ourselves, Sam and the contractors what we were going to achieve. Houzz boards were used to help curate the design and ease the decision making. Sam made all purchasing for us, helping us with his trade discounts along the way which were vital in keeping the budget manageable. We had our contractors already in place from previous experience, but used Sam’s project management skills to help us oversee the project, and allow us to focus on our own work during what can be a stressful period otherwise. Sam went above and beyond during the install process, often getting stuck in himself! He always made himself available no matter what the time or day. I have since commissioned Sam to help design an office space for my company and have already begun consultation with Sam in regards to exterior work and an extension to our beautiful home. We all love our family home, it really feels like ours now!

I found Sam at Patience Designs through the houzz website. I was looking for someone who could help me with my apartment refurb, with a vision to go for a contemporary, chic style design. I really liked the photos of Sam's previous projects and so met him at my apartment. He was instantly very warm, and I knew he would be someone I could trust on the project. He then came up with several designs and suggestions; some I liked a lot, some not so much. However, together we were able to brainstorm and make decisions collectively and that was the best thing about Sam - however many times I changed my mind about something, nothing ever was a problem for him. Sam is a great designer, who I would recommend anyone to work with on their projects. He is efficient and works within your deadlines and budgets; he is very amenable and pleasant to deal with; and above all he is very creative, with a fine eye for detail. I could not be happier with the outcome of my project!

We are currently working with Sam on project involving new loft build, 2 new bathrooms a hallway and a kids bedroom. We have a separate builder so sam's role has been to help us develop creative ideas for each room and select the materials to purchase for them but not a project manager. Sam initially provoked new ideas for the rooms with a mood board on pinterest to see which ideas resonated with us. We then created a ideabook on Houzz to work with him on per room. The ideas can come from both sides and we've spent far too many hours browing houzz and pinterest to look for things... Sam plays a great role in politely feeding back which things work together and which don't in that circumstance too and which are safe or more boundary pushing. We have certainly gone for higher quality, more interesting designs than we would have without Sam's involved... when you are laying down a tonne of cash on a building project... you may as well make it look great and hang together creatively. Sam has added plenty of value in this respect Sam comes across as thoughtful, respectful and focused on you getting a great outcome for all the items in the room. He will go to great lengths to help you find the right item or finish and is happy to visit or receive calls at hours that fit around you as a client. The way Sam works - he will measure up your space work with you on the idea, render it up in 3D, get samples of materials for you or encourage you to go see things yourself. He will if possible negotiate trade discounts on the goods but you will then purchase these yourself. (we have saved significant chunks of cash through this). He has contacts that can help make bespoke carpentry pieces in the right shape or colour particular to help you realise your vision if you can't find the right item or colour. He has been liaising also with our builder to help us realise the vision in reality too. This is particularly important to us A quick update... the project has come off really well. It look ace and glad we engaged Sam's services. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend him if you are doing your own project and want to stretch yourself creatively ! Sam designed John Lewis wardrobes for two of my bedrooms in 2014. I was impressed with his ideas and attention to detail, so he was the obvious choice when I wanted bespoke shelving and media units. Sam was able to visualise what was needed and made suggestions that make excellent use of space and complement the existing colour schemes. Installation is not easy in a 5th floor flat with no parking, but Sam and Mike were always cheerful and professional. If my perfectionism was in any way irritating they did not let on! We are all thrilled with the end result and would not hesitate to recommend Patience Designs to others.

Sam has been really smart in helping us with three projects to fit new cupboards into our Putney flight where the space was tight and needed some innovative thinking. We first met Sam Patience when he was working on bedroom design for John Lewis and we were delighted with his ideas and approach. He was imaginative but also practical and the wardrobes that we now have are just perfect. It was to Sam that we turned - but now independently from JL - a year or so later when we needed a radical redesign to a second bedroom. Just as before he listened to what we thought we needed, guided us into seeing different ways of what was possible in the space. I think his attention to detail has been amazing. He even agreed to meet us in store when we were deciding on colours of wardrobe doors, carpets, headboards and window coverings. He is very approachable, friendly, delightfully irreverent but above all he is truly professional; he delivers on what he promises and to a very high standard. I like to write balanced reviews but neither my wife nor I can think of a single negative point to make about Sam. Even his fees are very reasonable.
