“I had a water softener go out in a rental unit I own and I called Gene at Piperight Plumbing. He asked me for some basic information about the water softener and for some pix of the labels on it. He called me back with what the cost would be for the new unit as well as what the labor costs would be. Two days after my call, the job was done. Thank you!”

“Dale came to our aid and helped us do a major refurbish after we started and realized we were in over our head. He did as much as we wanted him to do, taught our son how to do what we could do, to help save $ and worked in our schedule when we had a wedding and sickness to deal with.”
Vava! Veve!

“I’m the former owner of a textile import business and have always been drawn to textiles of all types but particularly weavings. About 20 years ago I started collecting weavings, predominately Scandinavian, both art and functional pieces. I’ve had the privilege of getting to know some of Minnesota’s finest weavers, so I was delighted to find Marian Dahlberg of Vava! Veve!, tour her studio, and acquire some of her beautiful weavings. Marian has an extraordinary eye for color and detail; she manages to make complex patterns exude tranquility. From the functional to the decorative, the quality, design, and elegance of her weavings more than live up to the standards of her Scandinavian heritage.”

“B&R did a whole condo remodel for me on my one-bedroom condominium in downtown Minneapolis. I picked B&R because of word-of-mouth recommendations from friends who described their work as meticulous and having high standards for perfection. I also liked that they are a local family-owned business with a great deal of pride in workmanship. Carol is one of the owners and is certified as a general contractor and was very involved, objective and realistic in her approach, letting me know right up front what the range of possibilities were and the costs attached. Kurt was also actively involved and managed the project front start to finish and always assured that the work met their very high standards. Kurt was great at proposing creative ideas for design issues and together they serve as both a great contractor and design team. I remember how Kurt was insistent that two of the base trim joints in the corner matched perfectly even though no one would ever notice. They only use long-time subs whose work they have vetted and will only use if they perform at the level expected - Roy was fantastic at the custom word work and at fixing some of the existing problems with closet doors, kitchen cabinetry, etc. The tile guy (can't recall his name) did an awesome job on the bathroom floor tile, sink, toilet, etc. Steve was the handyman who was so careful he made sure the screws for the new shower rod didn't pierce any of the common mechanicals behind the tub wall. They arranged for Twin Cities Closets to do the built-in cabinetry in the bedroom and came up with a fantastic design at much less cost than California Closets. The end result was fantastic and I credit the coordination between Carol, Kurt and the subs. I now have a brand new apartment that looks like it just emerged from a magazine. I would not hesitate to use them again and to recommend to my friends and family.”
cns design build

“Mike recently remodelled my adjacent kitchen and family room spaces. The work involved new cabinets/countertops/etc, a new stone fireplace, new woodwork and other finishes. Wood selection, cabinet quality and finish are very important to me and Mike has a great appreciation for the details in building outstanding custom cabinets. I am very pleased with the result. He also made a custom piece of furniture for me and updated all the woodwork in the room. I had some very specific ideas about what I wanted done and Mike was able to understand what I was thinking and make it happen. He was also very good at letting me know when a picture that I had in my head just wasn't possible or practical and then helped me to come up with a better solution. Mike expanded and refaced the fireplace based on a photo of something I liked. He did the stonework himself and the end result is absolutely beautiful. There were a few scheduling delays that came up, in part due to a subcontractor that I had hired separately and in part due to other projects that Mike was also working on. These delays might have been avoided with a bigger contracting firm that could just "send someone else" for the day to keep on schedule, but I prefer the fact that I knew the individuals who were in my house, was confident in the work that they did and knew that they were fully informed of project details. I would make that trade off again in a heartbeat. I know the cost of the project was reasonable based on some competitive bids that I received before I selected CNS Design Build. This is due to the fact that Mike handles much of the detailed work himself (cabinet customization, custom furniture piece, stonework - the high impact items) instead of passing on the additional margins required for outsourcing or subcontracting everything in order to handle a higher volume of work. That said, he subcontracted appropriate items and I was very happy with the work provided by those subcontractors, also.”
