KLR Interiors

I’m writing this review it because I want to publish an overview of my personal experience with KLR Interiors, as I feel that others would benefit from knowing a little about my kitchen project. To set the scene, my wife and I have modernised 4 houses successfully so we are no strangers to the process of renovation and kitchen fitting so we know what to expect from such a project, and we are used to working happily with trades people. Our current project – a large 1930’s house in Worcestershire, had plans approved for an extension which included moving the kitchen into an open plan kitchen diner. After lots of decision making we commissioned KLR Interiors based in Studley, Warwickshire. They had a showroom and their website talked about ‘Attention to Detail’ and ‘a passion for transforming home’. We thought that sounded perfect… a company with passion. The project was quoted just under £20k with a fitting time of 4 days which sounded reasonable based on previous experience. It didn’t take me long to realise that we had made a terrible mistake. The first red flag event was a call to the company asking for a bit of information on one of the details in the design… It was just a simple thing that needed some clarification but communication was poor and I ended the phone call feeling very worried. We had paid a large deposit and had nothing delivered and the atmosphere was already becoming uncomfortable. After we had paid £8k, the kitchen eventually got delivered late with half of it missing. Basically 4 half days of work, everything was in a terrible state. The fitter never cleared any mess after he finished work. We had to do that after he left each day. As a customer, it felt to me like KLR could take no responsibility for anything that isn’t right. Lots of excuses and blaming other people and project management was non-existent. I have to say to anyone that reads this…and this is the reason I wanted to post the article… For us it was an awful experience having the KLR kitchen fitter in your house. It felt like he resented being there from day one. It was like the kitchen was ‘his’, and ‘we had to please him’, not the other way round. He truly does not understand the needs of the customer. I would recommend to KLR that they empathise with the customer, and learn how to serve with grace and thanks. Improving communication and organisation would be a great start. Then extend this to attention to detail. For anyone reading this, I would urge you to seek your own references and make your own decision but for us the project was a disaster and took almost a year (and around 300 emails) to see our kitchen complete.
