We provide a FREE garden design consultation on the first visit to get an idea of your garden requirements. We will then provide a guide garden design with suggestive planting scheme and mood board for your garden which is then payable. We have 3 price options for this depending on the size of your garden. Design fee is payable at time of second appointment. We can then provide you with a FREE costing in writing for the build and implementation of your garden to the design.

I am so glad that I went with Alexander John Garden Design & Maintenance. I needed so much doing in my garden that I felt overwhelmed. I now have narrower borders with a paver mowing edge, new lawns and new fencing. The lads that did this were always on time and worked very hard, they were a pleasure to have around for 2 weeks. I would recommend this company and also would recommend that you view their website which is full of wonderful photographs of work that they have completed.

In a world of instant results, gardening is one of the few pleasures left that takes time and thought and this is what you get when you work with Nicholas and his team. I have truly enjoyed seeing my garden transformed through Nicholas’s design while appreciating his flexibility in adapting some of my ideas into the plan. He turned a space that was difficult even to walk out into (heavily trafficked by a bouncy spaniel) into a beautiful, usable area of contrasts, textures and colour. Thanks also should go to Mark (and his team) for his care and skill with the wall-building and paving. I’m excited now to see the garden develop, flourish and mature.

Nicholas was great at understanding what sort of planting plan we had evisaged and worked very proactively and visually to provide a scheme. He was receptive to changes and came promptly to plant. We are really pleased with the way that the garden has been in flower ever since the first weeks of planting.

We found Nick's knowledge of garden design in as much as Hard and Soft Landscaping to be invaluable when we were looking to have our garden transformed from a Modern Newbuild patch of grass to something we would be proud to show off. Nick was very sympathetic to our requirements and spent time working with us on on a combination of wish list from our perspective to what would actually work well. What we finsihed up with is a stunning garden which Nick and his team helped transform in a very professional manner, to budget and that we are very proud of.

I had an overgrown garden with old outbuildings completely levelled, returfed and new planting schemes added. Also fencing completely replaced. Very happy with the work. Everyone involved was professional and courteous to myself and neighbours. Very happy with the end result and I didn't have to do any cleaning up or tidying afterwards. Great!

The Boss, Nick is excellent in garden/plant selection design and takes due input from the customer. Nick chooses the plants diligently and does most of the securement and actual planting himself. The hard work (paving, walls, fences, electrics etc) is undertaken by Nick's hard working associate Mark and his group, who are highly competent in such essential work. Nick also offers autumn "putting the garden to bed", very helpful for inexperienced gardeners like myself. The fact that they are always busy with work booked for several months ahead is testament to their value for money, reliability and professionalism.

Commented: Builders killed my lawn...We often get these jobs. We usually strip the lawn of existing turf, rotovate the soil then level. We then add a new top dressing with a slow release fertilizer and then turf. We love ryegrass turf as...

Commented: Building raised flower bedsI would suggest you dig a trench footing 300mm in depth or spade depth and width. Then fill with cement ballast and level. Wait for the concrete to go off then start installing the blockwork to finish...
