About Us

Projects of all scale are undertaken by Amy at amy hannigan garden design, from updating tired planting schemes to a full-scale reconstruction of your garden. A well-designed garden can add value to your house and brings real pleasure to your life and well-being. Careful attention is always paid to your intention and desires; the garden is for you and not the designer. Also, of course, to your budget. I trained in horticulture and later specialised in garden design. Working only with excellent and skilled trade and craftspeople we will transform your outdoor space in to a creative and useable garden. I have a degree in Art History and worked as a professional photographer; these visual disciplines support and inform my design process.

Great ideas from Amy Hannigan with a design that was well thought through and showed that she had listened carefully to my brief. Lovely qualify plants sourced and everything was done in a timely and efficient manner. I would definitely seek to hire again and would highly recommend.

Amy did a fabulous job redesigning our garden. She designed and planted it all four years ago now - we're no gardeners - but it's still looking great now. It gives colour all through the year and suits our needs perfectly.

Amy was a intuitive and inspired designer. We just had a garden terrace to design hence my four rather five stars! The attention to our small project was dedicated and professional. Amy has been an invaluable source of inspiration and help in reviewing the detail of and providing planting plans for an existing garden design. She has suggested ideas for tricky areas (shaded borders, under tree canopy planting, screening from neighbours) and has provided practical solutions for a couple of issues of the design which didn't work well in practice. Amy has provided a very personal service, taking great care to consider how we would like our garden to be and has interpreted our needs with astuteness. I recommend her very highly.

Amy has done designs for three areas of our garden. The brief was low maintenance, harmoniuos colours (with what was already in the garden) and scented plants where possible. She met the brief perfectly (including the agreed budget), overseeing the construction of an exquisite patio with a small summer house and a rippling fountain, surrounded by scented plants which start in early Spring and are still going strong in late Autumn. Subsequently Amy has helped to maintain her designs making the whole thing virtually hassle free for us. We just get to enjoy the fruits of her skill and professionalism.
