About Us

Our design ethos is to search for the purest response to each site, client & brief. We adopt an uncluttered approach; best described as ‘quietly contemporary’ and explore natural materials, aged patinas and textural contrasts within a modern aesthetic. Our aim is to create gardens that look beautiful, but which also encourage exploration, play or quiet repose. Our planting style tends towards the layering of dynamic, natural planting communities to juxtapose with the underlying design structure. We believe in ‘right plant, right place’ and wherever possible adopt sustainable solutions.

Professional Information

Our bespoke design service offers ‘concept to completion and beyond’ involvement and includes: outline design proposals, detailed tender packages for costing, planting schedules and sourcing, on-site monitoring of works, after care & maintenance.

Having worked for Angus Thompson Design since 2009 when I built his gold-winning Chelsea Flower Show garden, I have always found his detail and designs to be very well thought through, which helps us as the contractor, with the ultimate result of delivering the perfect scheme for the client.

Our narrow townhouse garden - we're in a Victorian terrace - has to work pretty hard. We wanted a beautiful garden - naturalistic, relaxing - but also one that our three children could enjoy; and somewhere we could work, in the garden studio. Angus's design is fantastically clever, easy to live with and we absolutely love it. We get so much pleasure from our garden on a daily basis - and it's transformed the view from the house. Responsive and creative, we highly recommend ATD. If we ever moved house - and garden - we'd use them again without hesitation.
