Once the design was agreed she liaised with the hard landscaping team and coordinated all aspects of the work. “Cheryl came highly recommended by a friend to help design part of our mature garden after a barn had been built to replace an old shed and some very old and diseased shrubs and trees had been removed. As a keen gardener I thought I knew what I wanted and was a bit surprised when Cheryl started by looking at our address on Google Earth but this demonstrates how she starts with the overall shape of the garden and an understanding of the surrounding landscape. Cheryl visited the garden twice. On the first we talked about how we use the garden, what we like, don’t like and how we want to maintain it. Cheryl left us with a sketch. On the second visit we refined the design on a scale drawing and discussed planting ideas. We’ve now had the plan created by a landscaper and are delighted with the result. The whole garden now makes sense – we have an interesting design that works so well but actually didn’t change much – changing a border shape, relocating an armillary sphere and creating a path through some existing trees where all unexpected things that make the garden so cohesive. Could not have achieved this without the help of a professional garden designer and Cheryl was a pleasure to work with, extremely knowledgeable, creative and generously still on hand for ongoing planting advice.”

“Chris and Team were presented with a challenging 3 tier, very steep site with difficult access. Working from the bottom up, their work has shored up our garden, making it safe and an enjoyable place to spend time. Impossible to quote for such a project with many complications, Chris and the team communicated at every turn, with great ideas and a good eye for practical design. With our budget in mind, recycling materials was a very important factor for us.”

“We requested a design package of landscaping and a planting scheme for our front garden area. The plans submitted to us would give the area a completely different outlook and feel yet also complimentary to the area in which we live. The landscaping work is yet to be carried out but having had our rear garden landscaped and planted by Howle Hill Nursery seven years ago, we are confident that the proposed works will be equally as good. The whole Team from Howle Hill have been extremely professional and competent. They also provided a maintenance schedule and were always willing to answer any follow up questions.”

“Inkwell designs is an innovative new company offering competitively priced web-based garden designs for a range of specifications and budgets. Backed by years of experience working in landscape design and garden construction, the plans are detailed and well thought out. A creative flair for shape, texture and colour is obvious and the 3-D images generated by the company allow you to have a real taste and feel for what is possible. Response and turn around time is excellent and in spite of being a "remote" service, there is nothing remote about the end product. I cannot recommend this company too highly.”

“I've been involved in a few projects with Sam now. She is highly professional, answers queries quickly, and is adaptable to customer changes. Drawings are easy to understand. A lot of designers try to impose their one size fits all approach onto a customer, Sam is definitely not one of those, listens to the customer requirements. Likss to be involved in plant selection to ensure the customer is getting the best possible products, and not afraid to get her hands dirty, in fact she likes to be on site when the works are taking place to ensure her vision is carried out by the landcape installation team. Would definitely recommend.”

“Our front entrance steps were in very poor condition, and water was leaking into the basement room below. Fork Garden Design stripped and rebuilt our front entrance stair and forecourt. The work included rebuilding the stair walls as the existing structure was crumbling away; re-rendering the external walls with a layer of fibre-mesh underlay to reinforce the structure; and paving the steps and forecourt with high quality sandstone slabs. During the construction, Fork Design also coordinated with the waterproofing specialist to sequence the work. Philip and his team were very professional, diligent and thoughtful. Their work reflected a very high level of design, workmanship and quality. Philip has both very good design skill and is meticulous with implementation details. We could not be happier with the result, which has transformed the space. As a client who is also an architect by profession and with over 20-year of experience, I am extremely impressed with Philip and his team. I would not hesitate to recommend them.”
