“In 2012 after living in our house for the last 18 years, we decided to update our 1970's colonial rather than move. This project included the landscaping as well as the home itself. “I had an excellent experience with Outdoor Design! Chris and his team are very dedicated, hard-working, and full of ideas on how to make the most of your backyard. I had gotten a free estimate from Chris when my irrigation company recommended him. I called him to talk about grading my yard before sprinklers were installed, but somehow, 2 months later, we had our backyard oasis completely finished, and had gained an outdoor living room, dining room and kitchen for a fraction of what an actual building addition would have been. Plus, mature trees for added privacy and landscaping Martha Stewart would be envious of! Chris and Dave took my ideas and budget and made what I had envisioned happen. Chris prices out the estimate a la carte; which means that you don't have to do everything right then; I could start the project and add the fireplace later, or the stonewall seating next year... I was able to shave some of the cost by reusing my hydrangeas and buying some of my own shrubs. Mario and the masonry team are some of the hardest working men I've ever met. They would set up tents in the rain just to keep working! The end result is stunning; Two friends have already hired Chris in the last 6 months to build their own dream backyards. What sets Outdoor Design apart from the competition is that they stand by their work. Chris is a lifelong resident of Fairfield (as am I) and knows that reputation is everything. “Green Jay Landscaping most recently completed a woodland pond renovation for us, complete with waterfall and plantings and including a bog garden for water filtration. We love it! The waterfall is lovely and they stand fully behind their work. Jay has also performed a lot of regular landscaping work for us. “Iris has been the landscaping professional for both a NY city balcony and an East End home. The balcony is challenging, along the Hudson so very strong winds, and home has a lot of different shading issues to deal with. Iris has been the key to making this all work. First, very thoughtful and knowledgeable on the initial design. Knows her plants and has a good vision of where to go. Second, excellent on execution. Shows up when she says, gets the work done in a timely way, and leaves the place looking great. She is always accessible on email and phone, comes when needed, and has a deep bench of folks she works with. Third, great pride in her work. Comes by outside of necessary appointments to check up on the plantings, and has a critical eye so if something is not right she stays on top of it. For us, landscaping is very important and we spend a lot of time and resources on it, and Iris is a great quarterback for what we do. The forms asks for a project date, but after initially getting to know Iris (and replacing another landscaper with her), we have had her give us seasonal contracts for 2012, 2013, and again will in 2014.”
