“Nigel came round to offer his 'garden design in a day' service. We have a difficult sloping garden and he was really good at understanding what we wanted and also helping us to think about things we hadn't considered. He also took careful consideration of our budget and came up with a really innovative but practical design and helped us find a suitable contractor. The garden looks great, we use it so much more and the design has attracted many compliments.”

“Our project was to develop a medium-sized garden, four miles from the Sussex coast, which faces south-west and suffers strong winds, lethal for many plant species, Barry Chambers of Changing Scenes, of Bognor Regis, successfully designed a colourful garden of raised flower beds, mature trees, large shrubs, a vegetable and sitting area and a stone beach with seaside plants, creating a frame for views across fields and glorious sunsets. The work was put out to tender to about five firms, with husband and wife team Keymer Landscapes, of Barnham, Bognor Regis, who I would also recommend, selected. Barry Chambers' knowledge of plants, and their survival in these conditions, is excellent, as is his ability to explain his choices without pretension. The construction and gardening was hands-on supervised by Barry who regularly returns, post-project, to add plants and check the progress of the garden and its maintenance. “Very impressed by this firm. It's true to say that they took us 'on a journey', converting our small garden which had become a bit of a 'rewilding project' to something beautiful and usable. Scott visited us, and we decided to go for his design service, and he came up with three plans. Once the garden was cleared of four Leylandii and an apple tree, he came up with a fourth which we ultimately went with. Once the work started, we soon saw that James, the foreman on site, was a real perfectionist, and ably assisted by Jim and Mikey, it was a delight to see a mess transformed into something we're looking forward to using. After completion, we had a couple of minor snagging issues, and all resolved speedily and to our complete satisfaction. Apart from anything else, they're all nice people, and we're missing them already. No hesitation in recommending this firm.”

“Melanie came up with a wonderful design for our small garden. We had strong ideas and wanted it to feel like another room to our home and give it a lush, evergreen feel. Her design was spot on and we love how it turned out. It’s meant we’ve had a new space that we’ve used all summer to entertain in. She introduced us to quality landscapers who helped bring it to life. Her relationship and communication with them meant the job was done with care and attention to detail.”

“Moving in to a brand new house we had a blank canvas with which to work, and count ourselves most fortunate when we were recommended to Anna by a neighbour. It was clear from the outset that Anna works with a process, first asking us what our priorities are and how much time we would be willing to give to ongoing maintenance etc. the brief we gave her was for low maintenance, year round colour, koi pool and dog friendly. At every point Anna exceeded our expectations. She has also kept her word by performing regular garden check-ups to make sure we're on track. Highly recommended.”

“Josie and Nigel redesigned, built and replanted a small sheltered back garden, changing it from a dark mass of overgrown bushes and trees to a light , bright patio oasis. It has been a lovely, relaxing outdoor living room all summer that we have enjoyed being in almost daily. They took on board my ideas, using their knowledge and experience to enhance and improve them to the best effect. The building work was organised, efficient and clean and tidy. I would definitely recommend them to anyone wanting a sensitively designed fresh look to their garden.”

“Acres Wild - Talented garden designers I can't recommend these guys highly enough. 14 years ago I built a house on a high Wealden site in East Sussex and brought in Acres Wild to design the gardens. Their brief was to make it look like it had been there for ever, even though they basically started with a muddy field. They created a strong structure with a series of garden 'rooms' which became less formal further away from the house, and used heavy planting. They work on the basis of survival of the fittest. Since then the garden has matured and been featured in several magazines. The walled potager, built with 200-year-old bricks, even won a Sussex Heritage Award two years after it was built. If you want a formal knot garden or something very contemporary with water dribbling down a sheet of metal then Ian and Debbie would probably not be your first port of call. But if you want a stunning garden that you'll love to live in then you won't find better garden designers.”
