“Nicola is an excellent, highly creative Landscape Architect, who was able to take a very complicated and unusual brief and create inspired and beautiful designs. Our project is a recreation of an historic garden, which is part of the University of Bristol. Although not a strict restoration, we wanted to return some of the original features and layout to the garden, but also create a space which worked for the students and public who will use the garden. Throughout the whole process, Nicola has worked closely with us on all parts of the design and implementation, always being available with advice and hands-on help when needed. She is friendly, personable and a good communicator. and takes the time to make her process accessible, so we have felt able to contribute to the overall design. Nicola's flexibility and quick thinking have been invaluable, as our project has many moving parts, and she has been able to adapt and give us options to suit our needs as the brief has changed along the way. It's great to be able to work with someone who has such thorough and detailed knowledge of the design process, and understands the challenges of working with public spaces in a heritage setting. “When we met Steve we didn't really know where to start with our garden, having very little funds to work with upfront Steve encouraged us to focus our money into a final design that we could work towards. We were fortunate enough to have seen some of his work in person and were hooked on his creativity and eye for design. Biodiversity and ecology were really important to us having two small children and living in a busy city, we needed a space that will grow and evolve with us and this is something that Steve is extremely passionate about. As a designer, he listened and understood our needs, concerns and urge to use reclaimed materials where possible. He has introduced us to so many exciting ideas when the time finally comes to start planting. He's a pleasure to have on-site, professional and respectful. I'm really looking forward to completing this design and living in our new space. Thank you Steve!”

“Eliza took a hugely positive and encouraging approach to her garden design work, and was a pleasure to work with. The project had two stages: initial and final, both of which were quoted in advance for price and timescales, and were delivered to the price and on time. The result was highly imaginative and interesting, and our garden attracts praise from everyone who visits us. We are still pleased with what we have and it has stood the test of time. We were recommended a choice of two contractors, and we got quotes from both and chose one of them. The implementation was good, but was let down by taking a very long time and poor pointing on the paving. A lot of this was caused by the weather (sustained torrential rain) and was really outside of Eliza's control. If there was anything that was less than perfect, it was the choice of some of the plants and their location. There were some tall plants that we ultimately failed to keep standing upright because of the wind (we are at the top of a hill). We had been hoping for more all year round plants and less that die down in the winter, but we knew very little at the time, and have since altered the mix a bit. However, we remain fully satisfied with the bit that is difficult to change, namely the hard landscaping.”

“From the initial design consultation with Kevin and Paul, we were impressed with Batello's professionalism and their total commitment to our vision for the garden. Throughout the construction process we were able to review progress and were kept up to date with costs and timescales. The Batello Team were extremely hard working and at the end of each day they cleared the work area and tidied everything away..most impressive.
