“Having moved into a bespoke new build we spent 12 months understanding our needs and the different options we believed our plot would provide to enhance our lovely house. This allowed us to give a good brief to Angelique at Papillon. Her resulting design met our brief accurately and allowed for three clear phases which helped us spread both the cost and inevitable (albeit minimal) disruption over 10 months. The change from scraped subsoil to verdant landscaped gardens is wonderful. The frontage has been transformed from a steep rocky bank into a graded rock and gravel vista incorporating a winding dry stream bed. This fits sympathetically into the countryside around the house. The south side has a lawn surrounded by generous borders with planting designed to preserve the views and yet provide a degree of privacy and also shelter from the strong winds we experience. Finally, the third area behind the house has been levelled and seeded with meadow seed to merge with the fields to the west of the house. Throughout the phases communication has been excellent. Papillon worked within the constraints of our budget by sourcing smaller/younger plants than they would perhaps normally work with which was very helpful with something approaching 100 sq m of boarders to plant up.
