Luxury Garden Design

Average rating: 5 out of 5 stars11 March 2023
“We used LGD for several projects, not least the design and building of our garden. The design process was painless, with expert advice from their lead designer on hand almost whenever we needed her. The build was complicated due to access through the house and parking issues; however, the work was of the highest expected standards, and the project management allowed us to take a step back and let the team get on with the work. Both the landscape team and designers were engaged and polite throughout.”
Nigel Philips Garden Design

Average rating: 5 out of 5 stars16 January 2019
“Nigel came round to offer his 'garden design in a day' service. We have a difficult sloping garden and he was really good at understanding what we wanted and also helping us to think about things we hadn't considered. He also took careful consideration of our budget and came up with a really innovative but practical design and helped us find a suitable contractor. The garden looks great, we use it so much more and the design has attracted many compliments.”

“The Mary Mary team transformed my dull and unloved garden on a difficult site into a magical space. Several magical spaces They made access easier and I now spend as much time as possible in one or other of my hidden retreats. The buildings are fun and the planting a constant source of interest.”

“Moved to new house where garden had been totally neglected by previous tenants. Paul did an excellent job of strimming and cutting back the lawn, and expertly cut borders either side. Nine months later we now have shrubs, bushes, a flat lawn and even tomatoes! Highly recommend Paul for his professional workmanship and excellent advice.”
Kristina Clode Garden Design
Landscape Architects and Garden Designers in Ninfield, East Sussex
Average rating: 5 out of 5 stars7 January 2018
“Kristina created a beautiful garden from the more or less bare field that came with our house. It was a really awkward L-shape with an unsightly view of the nextdoor outbuilding and Kristina managed to create a garden of three compartments which made sense of the space, with a pleached hornbeam hedge to screen the view. Kristina listened to all our requirments and delivered a stunning colourful flower garden with a pergola of our choice as a centrepiece, which gives us joy all the year round. She helped us monitor the progress of the hard landscaping contractors, prepared the beds and planted up the garden to the highest standard all within a short timescale. We have shown our garden for the last two years for the National Gardens Scheme and always receive wonderful comments about it. Kristina continues to oversee our garden and its ongoing development.”
Capability Chris

“We first met Chris when he was exhibiting at the Chelsea Flower Show, very much admired the gardens he created and stayed in touch with him. Some years later we were able to come back to him and asked for a plan for our tiny Cottage garden in the New Forest. Then, it was an ugly, depressing 'easy care' space that no one really wanted to use, in a conservation area with a large listed shed in the middle and very exposed. The largest usable area was filled with steps, dank concrete crazy paving, drains, bins and a boiler. Renovation and redesign needed someone with real insight to visualise what it could become. Chris created 3 individual areas within the garden, each with a slightly different purpose and character. The biggest area is now a beautiful sun trap and herb garden paved with warm terracotta sandstone with table and chairs and a parasol. We use it all the time and somehow the boiler is less noticeable. We have a more formal screened seating area to look out onto the Forest without feeling observed and a secluded grassy back garden for complete peace and quiet. Chris didn't feel the need to completely empty the garden as some designers might, but thoughtfully incorporated existing plants and features into the design and was flexible about amending it - such as when a well was found during works. This meant our new garden had immediate character, not just lots of tiny, new plants. He was a real pleasure to work with - sensitive to our budgetary restraints and receptive to ideas. He was tactful when telling us that some things wouldn't work too. As he lives a long way away we used a local landscaper to do the hard landscaping and liaised with Chris as the work was done. He came down and supervised the planting and was tactful with the landscapers but got his way. Chris really knows his plants and did us a proper planting plan and plant list. Not only are the species carefully chosen to suit the aspect but we got the loveliest variety of each and the vast majority have thrived. We are thrilled with our garden, we love and cherish it. We regularly receive unsolicited compliments about our beautiful garden, how appropriate it is to the situation and people ask who designed it. It is much easier to look after and an enormously rewarding space to enjoy. I have not put down a cost as I can't remember - but it was definitely money well spent. I can't see how to attach photos, but if you contact him he will know which garden this is. I would absolutely recommend Chris, he is more than capable, he's first rate.”

“We had a very small space with an odd shape and awkward levels and were at a bit of a loss as to how to deal with it. David was a marvel in how he cleverly teased out our 'wants' and 'needs' and distilled them into a fabulous design which we instantly fell in love with. He also project managed the works and his constant attention to the implementation and strong focus on quality and problem solving was much appreciated. David is enthusiastic, knowledgeable and hard working; and was always open to us making changes as we went along. We are very happy in our lovely little courtyard garden and would highly recommend David. Rose and Peter”
Barry Holdsworth Ltd

Average rating: 5 out of 5 stars7 October 2014
“We have worked closely with Barry on several projects and his work ethic and attention to detail really shine through. Barry is very organised which made everything straightforward and ultimately meant that the end clients received an excellent level of service. I know that one of the projects in particular had very tight time constraints due to a large event taking place at the property and that Barry and his team pulled out all the stops to meet the deadline given. Barry was a pleasure to work with and we look forward to another opportunity to work together soon.”
Cornus Garden Design

“Just over a year ago we moved into this lovely old house 400 metres from the sea with 2 completely shingle spaces as front and back gardens! Fine for tenants, low maintenance but barren. Thank goodness we found Janette of Cornus Garden Design - she turned our blank canvas into 2 tranquil and beautiful spaces making use of the existing shingle. We had no side access but Janette solved this problem by putting us in touch with a company that laid walkways in Marinas and Industrial Plants. Once our retaining wall was strengthened the surface was covered with the non-slip grill which is perfect and sits well with this house. Her whole design and planting scheme is sympathetic to the surroundings and our suggestions and we couldn't be more thrilled with the result. The use of low planting in the beds with taller planting at the edges and the beautiful water feature and lighting add interest and depth to the design. The hard landscaping was inspired. We would highly recommend Janette and her and innovative ideas - a big THANK YOU . . . .”
