“Nicola is an excellent, highly creative Landscape Architect, who was able to take a very complicated and unusual brief and create inspired and beautiful designs. Our project is a recreation of an historic garden, which is part of the University of Bristol. Although not a strict restoration, we wanted to return some of the original features and layout to the garden, but also create a space which worked for the students and public who will use the garden. Throughout the whole process, Nicola has worked closely with us on all parts of the design and implementation, always being available with advice and hands-on help when needed. “I had a fairly large border (approx 8m x 5m) which had been neglected for a few years. I wanted to create a low maintenance flower bed and liked the idea of a country garden look. Ben and Paul came round and assessed what was there in terms of position (light/shade), soil and the shrubs which were worth retaining. We also discussed budget. I then received a planting plan with a quotation and commissioned the work. The bed was cleared and planted mid June and I am delighted with the result. I now have a bed which will flower more or less from May to September and will require increasingly less maintenance as it matures. FGD are extremely knowledgeable and gave me advice on other areas of my garden (not areas which will result in work for them). I do have another two areas which do need a makeover and I will certainly commission them to undertake the project.”
