About Us

My name is David West Beale and I’m founder of Flowerstone and Member of The Society of Garden Designers (MSGD). My passion is creating unique and beautiful gardens and outdoor spaces. I’ve worked in design, horticulture and landscaping for more than twenty years – creating schemes for everything from courtyard gardens to country estates, flower shows to TV shows. But the story begins before this. After graduating with a Diploma in Art & Design, I studied environmental science and went on to work as Conservation Officer with The Wildlife Trusts, before gaining a Diploma in Garden Design at The English Gardening School. A background which allows me to blend creative design with sound horticultural and ecological principals – creating unique & beautiful spaces for people – spaces with an authentic sense of place and room for nature. Flowerstone is the culmination of many years of extensive experience and a unique skill set. We pride ourselves in offering a bespoke design service – providing beautiful and creative solutions to enable you to enjoy the very best of your outdoor space. Working around London and the Home Counties, we assist self-builders with our design input or alternatively we offer a full Design & Build Service to vision & install your new landscape scheme.. My goodness. What a top job by a thorough professional who refused to leave any stone unturned to ensure we now have the perfect garden. Service was from design to sourcing and planting. We couldn’t be happier. He’s an absolute garden-man not just another hard landscaper wanting to put a patio in and chuck in some plants.

My wife and I met David and agreed with him the garden design using his detailed experience in the field. It was a complete revamp of our tired garden and we wanted a modern and part "industrial" look. This has been achieved and by working closely with David everything went to plan! We are very pleased with David’s work. The garden was a building site after rear and front extension work. With his artistic flair he has managed to design and create a living space transforming a dull rectangular area to a place of real interest and colour and as summer approaches a scented area too from the choice of his plants he has included. He covered everything we asked of him within his brief, which included insect and bird friendly with a requirement for very low maintenance and to source all products including a water feature at the front and rear. The contractor’s David used were also extremely efficient and I would not hesitate in recommending him and the team to undertake any work you may require.

David really listened to us and created a design for our garden which gives us everything we could wish for. It was exciting to watch the design process unfold with clear and accurate drawings and creative visuals which helped us envisage the potential of out garden.
