Georgia Lindsay Garden Design

We gave Georgia an overlooked garden, covered in concrete that looked like a prison yard. It was an awkward space over 2 levels and we wanted a garden to enjoy being in but also to look at from the house all year round. She has created a lush tropical space that has given us somewhere to lounge, to potter and to entertain. We also have privacy for the first time and multiple trees in a garden that I assumed was too small. The new garden also ties in beautifully with our home. It was a pleasure to work with Georgia, she was so creative and resolved our garden grumbles in a way we never could have on our own. One year on everything is thriving and it feels magical and a world away from London. It is our happy space.

Collaborating with Georgia on the design of our small London garden was without doubt one of the most enjoyable experiences we've had while developing our home. Georgia was skilled, creative, sensitive, inspiring, calm and reassuring. She was a brilliant listener and as a consequence, we felt she understood us well. She designed a garden that feels completely right for us, and beyond what we could have imagined. Our new garden is a stunning addition to our home. Here are just some of the elements that Georgia designed so well: - Drought-tolerant planting in a vibrant colour palette of orange and reds, against a strong base of green - Structural elements, such as a modern pergola, raised beds and floating steps, which give a strong architectural feel and take the eye around the garden in all directions - Sensory plants - integrating scents, textures and movement (plus a swing seat). - An amazing herringbone patio which has become an instant talking point - A choice of materials which create a connection with the interior of our home and front pathway - Clever positioning of pleached trees to improve our privacy and security - Entirely dog-friendly planting without compromising the aesthetic and a secret doggy toilet - Wizardry with the budget! Georgia had great ideas for how to make our money go further. My only disappointment is that the project had to end! The prize, of course, is a beautiful new space to enjoy. I've noticed that we all spend more time out there, and that includes two teenagers, so it must be good. Georgia was a pleasure to work with. She listened to what we wanted from our garden and came up with ideas that we would never have thought of, to create an elevated, creative and functional space. Georgia also connected us with the landscapers who delivered the project and we were very happy with their work. She kept in touch throughout and has followed up since the project has ended. We are so happy with the garden that Georgia has designed and project managed. Landscapers that Georgia has recommended were also very professional. Overall a dream team to have! We knew wanted a little zen corner and a water feature in our garden but we didn't have any idea about other details. Georgia's first presentation with images of textures, materials, plants and other gardens she has designed was so helpful for us to point out and pick out things we didn't know we wanted in our garden. We then continue to communicate and meet to fine-tune the details. She was very responsive to any question we had and her attention to details always amazed us. Our garden looks stunning even during the winter and we are so looking forward to the spring to see flowers bloom! Most importantly our toddler also loves exploring in the garden, hopping along the stone steps and climbing on the boulders. Thank you Georgia for making our garden dream comes true!

Brief: Create an inviting outside space as extension to a Garden flat of a Stucco fronted Thomas Cubitt converted flat: to be both inviting and with privacy from upstairs neighbours I met Georgia in May 2022 when I sought her help after I had been let down by my previous garden designer. I was faced with peak season, Brexit and inflation causing a rapid rise in materials and trying to get a garden to use for the summer and bring it in within a budget. I’ve had experience with design and interiors but never dealt with an outside space. Georgia’s solution was to build on that experience and use her professional knowledge to guide me through it without having to visit my space or design or order anything for me. Genius! Now that I was armed with my trusty Garden Professor, my notebook was ready. My builder was booked, and Georgia directed me to order our slatted walls. She said go for something very basic and then use seal, sanding and excellent paint like Cuprinol. We talked colours and what to avoid. For furniture – we found a corner sofa set from Rose & Grey, but the table was too big. I was about to buy a smaller one, but Georgia said, you have a great builder, get him to cut it down. So, we did! We talked lights and plants. She advised finding a gardener at my local garden centre and I found the delightful Steph Hill. Steph spec’d the plants, planted them and organized a maintenance company who also trimmed the overspill of next door’s tumbleweed of gorgeous Jasmine. Onto the finishing touches, mirrors, barbeque, lights. Georgia said do you really need to run electrics right the way around - that’s expensive. How about buying Hurricane Lamps? You already have an outside light and fairy lights. I placed an inside mirror outside, but it felt wrong, Georgia suggested that we swing it around width ways and hang it behind the sofa. It never worked inside, but finally felt at home outside. We put an outdoor seal on it. Then there was the man corner – the Barbeque. We set up a Charcoal barbeque to see what the smoke was like and soon had neighbours complaining, so it was clear gas was the solution. Georgia said - have you seen the sleek Morso Forno Barbeques? – I hadn’t. I showed my partner (and just to be clear we have a huge Weber in our other house). He loved it. It’s stunning and works superbly well too. Georgia and I chatted about how the stand should work. Make it in keeping with everything in the garden she said. In the end I used the same slats from the walls, and we painted them dark grey. Same for the pergola. I wanted a sail shade, but it felt too flimsy. We popped some of the slats up to see what they felt like, and it finally felt like we had some privacy and a feeling of outside meets inside. So, I got my garden within budget, felt I had made a lot of decisions myself, but did so with a trusted professional working and guiding me. Absolutely thrilled with the outcome.

We engaged Georgia in partnership with Nordland Landscapes in January 2022 to renovate our front garden. We were utterly blown-away by the results and could not recommend Georgia more highly. It followed a highly successful re-working of our back garden by the same team, as part of a wider house renovation. What can you say about Georgia? It is very difficult to capture what she does in words. Here are some: Imaginative, collaborative, uber hard-working, detail-oriented, fun, creative, dedicated. Her re-imagining of the space in front of our house has created a brilliant flow, it has magic and what is lovely is our delight is shared by neighbours and passers by constantly. Her design was so imaginative, but the great thing is the options she provided were very practical and would cater for different tastes and needs. She really gets under the 'bonnet' of the brief, listens to what you want and adapts. In our case we wanted something different, which had space and colour but that would also accommodate the practicalities of cars, bins etc. She did this wonderfully, while working acutely to manage cost. We love the way her work reveals itself through the seasons as different flowers and plants arrive to surprise and delight. She delivers on everything you want - the brief, cost, creativity, quality, enthusiasm etc. But she goes far, far beyond it. Following up, checking in, giving thoughtful advice. We genuinely feel so lucky to be custodians of her work and look forward to many more years of enjoying it. We constantly say she was the best decision we made in our house build.

We really could not have imagined working with a better designer than Georgia. Although we had no idea where to start from (and vague ideas around what it is we were after), Georgia made the whole process so enjoyable and straightforward through her experience, vision and professionalism. Just from an initial meeting, she managed to nail the design from the get go and delivered a garden we are absolutely in love with. She always went above and beyond to make sure we were happy with the final product, and had a great eye for detail and design that made us feel that we were in very VERY safe hands. Overall we feel incredibly lucky to have worked with her on a part of our house we hope to enjoy for the years to come!

Georgia was a DREAM to work with! She met our "Low-Maintenance-Northern-California" brief to a tee! Georgia was also considerate of our Budget throughout the whole project whilst also inspiring us with other beautiful options. We were kept in the loop with all decisions throughout the process and we really enjoyed the design development process and CAD designs to help visualise along the way! We are SO proud of our Garden and can't wait to entertain (aka. show-off ) to all our friends and family! :)

We reached out to Georgia to help us visualise the area leading to our new garden gym, which was being supplied and built by a specialist firm and which was unusually shaped. Our primary concern was to ensure the new building would sit well within our garden and existing elements. Georgia came up with a beautiful design for a patio and stepped area. Apart from the drawings and design elements, Georgia also sourced a landscaping firm and oversaw what was an organically evolving project to completion as well as sourcing elements like pots and water feature etc. We are delighted with the outcome which not only sits well within the space but which has added utility and beauty to our garden.

We really enjoyed the process and results of working with Georgia. Our garden project came towards the end of a major house renovation. While that process can sap the soul, Georgia made our garden works a creative, collaborative, smooth and fun project. She really takes the time to understand you and your wishes/ needs. Nothing is imposed, there is no ‘hang on I’m the artist here, I know best’ (although she definitely does!). At the same time, we were constantly, pleasantly surprised by her vision and ability to add subtle touches and detail throughout the project. Any revisions we made, she was incredibly creative and accommodating. Also, there were no hidden surprises on fees. She gave us one overall fee which covered everything rather than a combination of fees and hourly rate. We really liked the clarity and transparency of that particularly when coming to the end of a long build. Georgia brings everything together as she does furniture, lighting as well as the design and planting. It's really lovely working with someone who treats the project with real passion and obvious joy. Meetings or recces for plants were something to look forward to as there would be great ideas from Georgia. She also sourced the excellent Nordland landscapes. We really, really enjoyed working with Georgia on our new garden and we're incredibly pleased with the results. Georgia was a true professional throughout as well as just being great to work with; everything was delivered to the highest standard and in good time. She thought of lots of things we wouldn't have and had some simple fixes to work with elements in our garden that would have been really expensive to totally change. The garden looks fantastic and the design is really cohesive and makes the most of the space - it all hangs together beautifully and Georgia suggested loads of plants and flowers that we just wouldn't have known or thought about it. Would thoroughly recommend.

Totally amazing garden designer. Georgia's vision and talent, transformed a very sad patch of 'garden' into an oasis of colour and style. From start to finish she delivered on every front, I was initially a bit sceptical when Georgia suggested creating an environment that had an element of discovery in it and asked me to imagine going for a walk around the garden.... (it is around 18' x 20' and that might be being generous!) but that is exactly what we have. Because the garden is so small I really wanted to avoid a patio type feel, which had largely been the line a couple of other garden designers had suggested. Instead Georgia brought the full force of her design skills to every aspect of the garden, no corner was neglected and the result is a wonderful harmony. From the planting, to the building of raised beds, to the flooring, to the painting and lighting................ every single aspect was given detailed care and attention. The team she brought to work on the garden were equally dedicated to the project and we have ended up with a very special garden which we can hardly believe is ours, it is truly transformed into an environment where you can explore(!) sit and relax and is a testament to Georgia's skill as a garden designer. As you can tell I have no hesitation in recommending her.
