About Us

Hampstead Garden Design is based in north London and was set up by Sarah Oxby, a qualified, experienced and award winning garden designer. Sarah offers a professional but friendly landscape design service, creating stylish, lasting gardens which are tailored to your taste, budget and practical needs. She enjoys creating small, contemporary urban gardens as well as larger rural landscapes. Hampstead Garden Design provide a full planning service including layout, hard landscaping and planting design and are particularly experienced in the planning requirements within conservation areas. Please do give us a call to discuss your garden. We work with a handful of trusted landscapers who can be relied upon to create your garden according to our specifications. We then install the planting which is sourced and selected from our network of local nurseries.

Sarah was wonderful to work with. We had an idea of what we wanted and Sarah helped us finalize our vision. She asked many questions to determine our likes, gave us options and was very detailed in the scope of the work and costs up front. There were absolutely no surprises. Her extensive knowledge was invaluable in helping us create the look and colour palette we wanted yet have minimal maintenance. She was very involved on site helping plan and then throughout the planting process. She even helped us find someone for continued maintenance. We’re very happy with the result and highly recommend Sarah and Hampstead Garden Design.

Sarah Oxby is an outstanding garden and landscape designer. This is the third project Sarah has done for me from inception to completion. The gardens are beautiful contemporary and considered and provide wonderful stunning spaces to enjoy for years to come. At all stages Sarah consults to ensure that your project is exactly perfect. I cannot recommend Hampstead Garden Design highly enough….

I am absolutely delighted with the stunning planting scheme that Sarah devised for our newly rebuilt raised beds. Sarah consulted closely with me on plant choices and my preferred flower colours, and the end result was a series of beds full of colour and form that will be vibrant and interesting year round. I have never worked with a garden designer before and Sarah made the process really enjoyable. I wholeheartedly recommend her company.

Sarah designed the layout for my complete garden renovation after I installed a garden studio, This included the landscaping as well as the detailed planting plan. She was very easy to work with and produced quite a few iterations to get the end result that I wanted. The detailed specifications enabled me to get precise quotations from landscape gardeners as well as making sure that they completed the work exactly as specified. The end result is fabulous and I would have no hesitation in recommending Sarah for this type of job.

Sarah has been a delight to work with. Very professional, very precise, and the end product is truly amazing. Sarah designed the garden incorporating tiles, brickwork stairs, shed and greenery. The end product is a little oasis in NW8.

Working with Sarah on our garden redesign was a brilliant experience. She was creative, attentive to our preferences and ideas, incredibly organised and she also put us in touch with fantastic contractors and actively oversaw the work as it was going on. She dealt with local authorities and the HGS Trust efficiently and advised us pro-actively on what would be possible and her recommendation. She was also precise and realistic when it came to budgets and timelines, never over-promising and always giving us options. We recommend her highly!

Sarah completely redesigned our back garden and helped us find a landscaper and lighting specialist to work with to get all the work done. And she project managed the whole thing and sourced a provider for the gym, pool and hot tub. She did an amazing job! Her design met our original requirements and went further, incorporating elements and materials we had not considered and was creative. We felt she took the time to understand what we wanted - even when we were not sure! Sarah was highly professional throughout. She was on site regularly and had excellent attention to detail so we were confident that nothing would be overlooked. She managed the landscaping team and other contractors effectively and made things easy for us. She even found us a gardener to maintain the garden on an ongoing basis. The planting is just what we wanted and the garden looks incredible. I would not hesitate in recommending Sarah for any garden design or development project.

Step by step process where she helped us in every stage. Sarah, has spent the last 2 years guiding and advising us on how to plan our garden, once we finally decided on the design, Sarah monitored the project until the end. Absolutely delighted with my beautiful garden, it’s a total joy! Sarah of Hampstead Garden Design, was wonderful from the word go! Throughout the design and build process, she was supportive and approachable. She was happy to take on board requests from me as the client, and guided the process forward, advising the best way to achieve the finished result. The team of Landscapers she brought in, were also professional and a pleasure to have working on the garden. I have no hesitation in recommending Sarah, and have done so already, with her taking on board, what I’m sure will be, another beautiful garden by Hampstead Garden Design.
