James was thorough in understanding our needs and preferences for our ‘new’ garden, as well as taking into account our soil and setting. The design went through a number of stages following discussion with us, and the final version he came up with was surprising - in a good way! - and did accomplish what we wanted much better than we could have imagined ourselves. James's ability to create a garden from the abstract is exceptional. His process is exciting and exhilarating to watch and be a part of. The end result is sensitive to the local vernacular as well as the clients desires but equally pushing the boundaries of what we think a garden should look like and have within it.
