Kit Peel Gardens

We first encountered Kit Peel on a publicity leaflet in Harrogate and after reading the text and the descriptive nature of how he undertakes gardening design and construction, we decided that this was exactly what we wanted Kit had a wealth of ideas, suggestions and thoughts, which he incorporated into the design, backed up by pictures and plans. He also had valuable experience with landscaping contractors, which we felt was essential for a professional completed project. Throughout the project Kit was always available and visited the site regularly to ensure standards were met. He was also open to suggestions from either ourselves, or the contractors and very able to adapt the plans skillfully, without impacting on the overall finished effect. We found Kit to be friendly and easy going, but at the same time totally professional and extremely knowledgeable with an excellent eye for detail We are already receiving compliment and interest about our garden, even before we have planted it out! We would certainly be happy to recommend Kit Peel to anybody considering a future garden project.

Kit Peel Gardens Kit carried out a first class job of redesigning our garden, from initial discussion and survey, through drawing up plans, recommending and obtaining quotations from contractors for landscaping and garden lighting, to finding suppliers for trees, shrubs and plants. He is very enthusiastic and full of imaginative ideas for garden structure which was exactly what we needed. He is easy to get on with and called in regularly to track progress, which we appreciated. He is not afraid to argue his case which is just as well as he is usually right. I can highly recommend Kit Peel. He is a garden designer of such impeccable taste and has tremendous artistic ability. My newly acquired historic property had an unattractive and neglected garden. Kit has completely transformed it into a timeless, elegant and romantic garden reminiscent of Arne Maynard. Kit’s design incorporated beehive Yew topiaries, pleached crabapples, boxwood balls and hedges, an abundance of roses and long herbaceous borders punctuated with Yew buttresses. He also drastically improved the hardscaping using classic materials and design. The result is a garden that I could never have imagined. Kit was very sensitive to the historic nature of the site and surroundings as well as the selection of trees and plants that would encourage wildlife. From the initial design phase to implementation, his attention to detail and to the job itself could not be faulted. Kit Peel is a truly gifted garden designer and has such a nice way about him. He is a pleasure to work with. I can assure you that if you are fortunate enough to put your garden design in the hands of Kit, you, like me, will be nothing less than over the moon with the results.

We asked Kit Peel Gardens to create a design for our garden. We required something that was low maintenance (as neither of us is green fingered), wildlife friendly and on a reasonably tight budget. We found Kit to be very friendly and a delight to have about. He spent a great deal of time discussing ideas with us and was very patient with our naive comments! He surveyed the garden before returning a couple of weeks later with not only drawings but an online 3D design which gave us a great idea of what his plans were. We were initially reticent about having the Amerlanchier Lamarkii trees as we were worried that they would be out of place in a small garden but he was absolutely right and we love them as do the birds. In the spring we had dozens of bees visiting everyday which is what we had hoped for. Additionally, we have plants flowering at different times of the year which provides all year round interest. We would highly recommend Kit to anybody wanting a bespoke garden design.
