I have been working as a garden designer since the early 1990's and having worked as principal designer for 3 highly regarded landscape companies, I set up my own practice in 2003. Although based in Somerset, my work covers the whole of the Southwest, and throughout the UK designing for private individuals, developers, and organisations. My aim is always to create a garden that is right for each client by listening carefully to individual wishes and needs and interpreting these whilst respecting budget, the style of house, and it's surroundings. My experience in landscaping and construction means I always have practicality in mind and it is important to me that each client will feel very happy to recommend me. I have created gardens ranging from traditional to contemporary, and for country estates, barn conversions, town houses, and roof gardens etc. I have also designed for major RHS shows, winning 3 conscutive gold medals at Hampton Court Palace International Flower Show. My work has been featured on television and in several publications, and I am a registered member of the Society of Garden Designers (MSGD), whose key aims include the promotion of excellence in garden design and construction.

Laurence helped us transform an untouched and unloved plot into a beautiful and restful garden. His attention to detail and inclusion of our (limited) ideas all contributed to a beautiful outcome - as did his recommendations as the contractors to be used. We also worked together on the planting plan and although its early days (the planting only happened a week ago!) we are very much looking forward to enjoying our beautiful garden in Spring 2021.

We used Laurence's expertise in the design of the area surrounding the house which comprised of three sides; a front parking area and garden, a side garden, and a back patio and garden. Laurence met with us to discuss what we were looking for. Our areas were mainly grass with a square concrete patio at the back. We wanted something more in keeping with the Georgian house and style. Laurence was meticulous in his preparation for the design spending a lot of time taking very detailed measurements. Once complete Laurence created a number of designs which we went though until we got a plan we really liked. We were provided with large colour detailed plans and Laurence then put in touch with a great landscaping company for the work. They did a terrific job but constantly spoke about the great and detailed plans they were able to work from which they said meant that the work was easier and therefore cheaper than it would have been. Between the two we ended up with our dream place with a bigger parking area, much better and larger patio and much improved style. We have had many complimentary remarks from neighbours (who believe we have added to the value of their houses) and others who have said that the work is of a standard you would see in Belgravia! We are very pleased and would recommend Laurence to anyone looking to improve their property and garden in both style, function and value.

Such talent! Right on our doorstep. We couldn’t believe our luck when we found Laurence. Laurence gave us a plan for our neglected garden of 3 acres which had such unrealised potential. In the last 12 months we have had it all done and it’s fantastic. He didn’t even baulk when halfway through we said we had decided to have a pool incorporated into the design. He is professional with great plant knowledge, practical hard landscaping knowledge and a great eye for design. Laurence always did what he said he would do when expected and to our budget. He also helped on the ground during the implementation of his plan, consulting with the contractors and setting out the finer detail of the lawns. Laurence’s help was invaluable and the results are stunning.

Laurence's professional designs made our waste land into an amazing country garden. He kept us informed all the way through and kept to time frames. It was a pleasure to work with him and his ideas were incredible and everyone who visits admires the design. Laurence's professionalism, knowledge and friendly approach created immediate confidence in our minds that he would produce a great scheme to revitalise our large garden and general outside space. He stuck to agreed timelines for meetings, surveys, draft and final plan production which was much appreciated. His attention to detail and innovative ideas ensured a finished plan that is now springing to life as the project progresses. He was also able to suggest landscaping firms he has worked with. We have gone with Marco Laing from Splendid Landscapes who is similarly professional, friendly and very flexible to our needs. Be prepared to 'pay' for your plans - they are worth every penny! You will reap the benefits when the work gets under way without any glitches and in our case a 10 week project that 4 weeks in is running very smoothly. We have already reccomended Laurence to friends without hesitation.
