We offer more than a makeover - we bring you style, class and an exceptional customer experience. Paul Richards Garden Design, works mainly in Shropshire and its neighbouring counties, and has a portfolio of completed projects of all sizes and in a variety of styles. We work mainly on selected projects with budgets of £25,000 and above, but are always happy to consider smaller projects that take our interest. Our designer Paul is a registered member of the Society of Garden Designers, the only professional association solely dedicated to supporting, promoting and maintaining the best quality and standards in garden design across the UK. By choosing a professionally accredited garden designer, you have the peace of mind that you will be working with an experienced designer who works to the highest professional standards. He now sits on the Society’s Adjudication Panel as part of the team assessing the work of other garden designers working towards this level of work. He has written articles for The Garden Design Journal and Diarmuid Gavin’s Garden Designs and has had regular columns in a number of local lifestyle magazines.

In 2019 Paul was awarded Best Garden Designer in the Northern Design Awards. We have won Gold and Silver Gilt medals for show gardens at Southport Flower Show. We have also won Best in Show at both the Holker Garden Festival and Southport Flower Show.

Paul did a fantastic garden design for us. He is friendly and listened to all our requirements, gave us good advice on costing andbuilding the garden. In the end the design was just what we wanted. We engaged Paul to come up with a design for our very small town-house garden. Paul was extremely professional and imaginative. He clearly explained his fee structure; the way he worked; timescales; what he wanted to get from us in terms of our requirements and vision; type of plants we favoured and what our overall expectations were. Paul produced a series of plans and drawings that provided us with a very clear view of how the garden would look. For an additional, but cost effective fee, Paul also project managed the installation of the hard landscaping and the actual plants. We were very happy with the outcome and Paul's clear approach to costs and meeting our expectations. Many people have complemented us on the garden design too.

We hired Paul to design two areas for us - a Mediterranean gravel garden near the kitchen and a more formal Japanese themed garden to be viewed from the main living room and master bedroom. Paul was the most professional of the over 40 designers we reviewed before coming down to a shortlist of three. His designs were good value for money, beautifully laid out and it was very easy to see what we were buying. Paul also project managed the build and planting for us, working with the excellent Andy Loudon for dry stone walling and Chris Bromley for the hard landscaping. Paul was personable and professional throughout. He's also an extremely nice chap. Highly recommended.

Paul visited the site and designed a low maintenance front garden area. The original garden was really untidy & full of weeds & very unmanageable for me. The site was cleared and an innovative selection of plants and trees have been chosen to give a lot of ground cover. I am really pleased with the difference it has made to the front of the house.

We commissioned Paul to design two areas of garden close to our farmhouse - a small 'Mediterranean' garden in a sheltered walled area near the kitchen and a low maintenance garden to be viewed from the kitchen, living room and master bedroom, inspired in part by our time living in Japan. Paul gained the commission through being one of the two best of five after initial meetings and of the final two produced by far the best design output that made it easy to understand what we were going to get. Paul project managed the build, working with professional dry-stone waller, Andy Louden, and Landscaper, Chris Bromley to create a garden that has the wow factor and a smaller more intimate space that is great for a summer afternoon with a cup of tea or indeed something stronger. We have recommended Paul to other people who have seen his work, and would have no hesitation in commissioning him again were we to look to extend our designed garden area.
