We used Sarah Kay Garden Design for our wrap around balcony (34sqm) in our new flat. We contracted Sarah just at the beginning of lockdown and we did everything via zoom and emails, except for the planting that happened when lockdown was lifted. We had specific requirements with respect to winds, cat friendly plants, toddler friendly plants and trees. Sarah was really amazing. She is approachable, knowledgeable and was really spot on with her choices and options to choose from. She sourced and had everything delivered to our address before planting day. On the day Sarah arrived on time and managed all the final deliveries. Have no hesitation in recommending her services.

Sarah is super attentive, organised and every step of the way makes sure to involve you in the process. After getting quotes and meeting with a number of Garden Designers we hired Sarah to design our secluded family garden in Walthamstow, Sarah's designs really captured what we were looking for from our garden space, its been a complete transformation that we are all enjoying, We found working with Sarah to be really easy & professional, her knowledge and eye for detail left us feeling we we're in safe hands throughout. Really nice to work with someone who cares so much about delivering a great outcome within our budget and timeline. Would definitely recommend.

It was great working with Sarah from the outset. She's very down to earth, very knowledgeable and the process of arriving at the design for the courtyard and terrace felt totally collaborative. The build / planting process was well organised and painless to experience - particularly given that neither space was accessible other than through the house. We love our new gardens - it feels as though the house has two new and lovely rooms. Would highly recommend.

We had lived with the view of our garden for years thinking it was okay but deep down we knew it needed work. Unappealing planting beds and a threadbare lawn complemented some unsafe rotten decking. Pot plants were our amateur attempt to hide it all. Today we look out upon, amongst many others, a Forest Pansy tree that seems to change colour by the day, evergreen grasses and ferns, jasmine and clematis climbers and a bright red Virginia creeper all designed to show their best throughout the year. Sarah came on board and very quickly articulated what we knew we wanted but hadn’t been able to action ourselves. She has been able to conceptualise our desire for an easily maintainable peaceful yet practical space that needed to serve the needs of a family and an adventurous pet. Often not easy to do Sarah was able to translate the concept into a design that has really brought the garden into our home rather than a rarely used standalone space outside. The designs, planting plans and mood boards were beautifully presented with huge amounts of detail, all of which was appreciated along the way. Sarah’s real forte however is not just her extensive knowledge of plants and how they work together and across seasons, but also creating a design that respected the garden’s context. The choice of materials used in the redesign of the garden complement not only the chosen plants but also the architectural history of the house and surroundings. This has created an aesthetic that is much more than can be provided by plants alone. What she has created is a garden that has really become an integral part of our house. The garden now seems to fit which it never felt like it did before. So often it is hard to find people who are genuinely nice to work with, especially when work on one’s house can be disruptive and stressful, but Sarah is that person. She is calm, realistic, has a great eye for visualising the final outcome and probably most importantly just gets on with it in a truly professional manner and we would highly recommend you talk to her if you are where we were before embarking on this project. Many thanks again Sarah, it has been a real pleasure working with you. James and Laura, E3

We hired Sarah Kay to re-design our city garden. We were delighted with the design, which required hard landscaping and new planting. Additionally she managed the project, which required shortlisting the hard landscapers, sourcing items and planting. The project planning and superb implementation was meticulous with no surprises and clear management of options. It was the best organised project we have ever undertaken. We now confidently look forward to our garden maturing into its beautiful design. Thank you Sarah.

I had little idea of what plants I wanted but Sarah had lots of ideas and was very patient until we agreed. She produced a lovely planting plan, very professional. She worked hard removing an enormous overgrown ivy, kept to the deadlines and cleared up all the inevitable mess. I now have a lovely patio garden.

Entering and leaving our house was never much fun, walking through a neglected garden, with poor use of space, structural issues and overgrown planting. I found Sarah's work after an online search, and really liked her style. After an initial consultation, she cleverly designed in all the elements we wanted to try to include in the garden, like some storage that could double as seating and a Victorian pathway. She was very creative with her suggestions for year-round planting - particularly scented and pollinator-friendly plants. She produced drawings, carried out a tender to find a hardscaper and project-managed the whole thing on time, and on budget. She's managed to create a pretty, elegant and hard-working space, that's sympathetic to our house's age, with some more contemporary twists. Just what we wanted. The finished garden is a pleasure to walk through now, and we've had many, many compliments from neighbours. Thank you Sarah!

Sarah completely transformed our garden from something rather sad and unloved to a garden which is a joy to look at. Beautiful plants and planters selected and all easy to maintain. We're really happy with the result. Would highly recommend!

We asked Sarah to create a garden that had a large dining space so we could entertain and also pretty easy to maintain. Sarah created a beautiful garden with silver birch trees, wild flowers and a large decking area. Sarah was brilliant to work with and really listened to what we liked and didn't like, she also drew up beautiful visual plans of what our garden would look like before we started. We now have a beautiful garden that 12 months later has really grown and flourished.
