My timber construction journey began when I was a child helping my dad build a treehouse in our garden. He was a skilled and inventive engineer and cabinet maker, retired early from his job because of ill health, and continued to help neighbours repair their properties and gardens until well into his 70s. I grew up with a saw in my hand and learned many things from him and brought them into play during my 30 years in the events production industry, designing sets and staging for indoor and outdoor events, office installations and touring events. Along the way I renovated houses and gardens for friends and contacts as well as myself and developed a broad skillset designing and building timber structures, often with integrated technology.
