Taryn Ferris Gardens, Horticulture And Design

We worked with Taryn for over a year to re-design our front and back London townhouse gardens. I cannot speak more highly of Taryn - both professionally and as a person to work with. Her passion is totally infectious and she is both deeply knowledgeable and creative. She instinctively understood my vision and I felt totally at ease from the outset that we were on the same page. Her flexibility to accommodate our work schedules was hugely helpful - and many hours were spent in the evening poring over designs and details. She works incredibly hard and is extremely organised - with very detailed weekly updates to keep us on top of things and always on hand to patiently explain every little question along the way. None of this was compromised even by a pandemic - she acted as project manager and handled all communication with suppliers. We are delighted with the final product - she has created a total oasis which has truly made a big difference to our wellbeing - especially with all the newfound time spent at home. I cannot recommend her enough and would be happy to provide a detailed reference.

I contacted Taryn to help me with my small courtyard. I had previously had the garden planted out, however the plants were not suitable for the conditions. Taryn came out and we spoke at length about what can be achieved and she took everything into consideration, soil, light etc. Taryn then provided a full and detailed plan of planting etc and within two weeks the garden was complete. I am so happy with the results and Taryn is also such a nice person to work with. Communication was extremely efficient, emails answered extremely quickly and detailed. I would highly recommend.

Taryn Ferris has been looking after our garden this year and we are so pleased at her thoughtful and considered approach. It is an established garden that had been 'maintained' previously but needed some care and dedication to tend, shape and nurture it and bring it back to life. Taryn was a delight to work with. We approached her following a building project which had left us with less garden (and what garden we did have had been flattened by the builders). She spent time with us talking through what was possible and realistic with the space we had and listening to what we were hoping to achieve. The planning process felt very organised and detailed and she came over to our house several times - at times convenient to us (evenings) to discuss the brief and then to talk through the plan, plants etc. The first design she shared with us wasn't what we were looking for and she took the feedback on board immediately (even having reached the same conclusion herself in the interim!) and the next design was pretty much spot on straight away. The layout was flattering for the small space, exciting for our two children and included planting that met our brief of plants that busy/incompetent people could keep alive! :) Once we agreed the general design, there were detailed plans, a drawing and a planting plan and Taryn again came over and took the time to talk us through each of them in detail. When we were ready to go ahead, we were more than happy to go with Taryn's recommended landscapers, who were excellent and incredibly diligent and considerate throughout the landscaping and planting process. Taryn managed this stage meticulously and while not on site every day, made sure to make regular contact and sent us email summaries of progress on a daily basis. We were consulted about any changes and minor hiccups were flagged immediately - and practical solutions presented. Taryn clearly has very high standards and she holds others she works with to the same high standards - communication was excellent, all on site team members behaved impeccably, the work was completed efficiently, effectively and to time and the house (access to the garden was through the house) was protected with plastic sheeting and dustsheets each day, and tidied away and cleaned at the end of each day. We are really pleased with the end result and have had endless compliments from people who see the garden - we can't wait to see how the garden changes throughout the year. From a spend point of view, Taryn was very clear about all costs associated with every stage - (including any minor changes to costs) the billing was spread out across the process and invoices came at appropriate junctures. And, while it was by no means a cheap process, overall it felt like excellent value for money given the level of attention and service we received throughout (and still to some extent following completion of the main project as loose ends are tied up and Taryn checks in about various things). I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Taryn to anyone who asks.

Taryn has been such a pleasure to work with. She took on board our needs, despite limiting her creative aspirations for the back garden, and developed a beautiful, relaxing, colourful space for all the family. She has always responded very quickly to any questions or concerns and loves to pass on her knowledge of gardening.

Taryn completed a partial re-landscaping and re-planting of our garden in 2017. With selective and carefully targeted intervention she turned a rather drab and unwelcoming space into a lush, green wonderland perfect for relaxing and entertaining. Throughout the project she stuck to an agreed budget and worked extra hard to accommodate our preferences and manage some tricky logistics. We would recommend Taryn's services without hesitation.
