Emma Lyne is the best!!! We've been working closely with Emma for several months on totally re-designing the garden behind our house, in a courtyard and in front of the house and couldn't be happier with the result. Emma worked collaboratively with us, including our requests in her plan when appropriate and telling us, gently, when our ideas were not great. The London Gardener came highly recommended and it has been wonderful working with Emma who designed both the front and back gardens at our new build, incorporating plants I had requested as well as advising on plants which would suit the conditions and provide continual interest throughout the year. Emma has designed and installed a beautiful garden for us. It looks fantastic all year round. We get a lot of compliments on our garden, even our daughter’s 4 year old friends say ‘wow your garden is lovely’. It’s all thanks to Emma and her team, who also help us maintain it. Emma was happy for us to be involved in deciding the plants and adapting the design to our needs/preferences. She also replaced a few plants that did not take and recommended a fantastic hard landscaper and electrician.

Emma produced a garden design which looks beautiful & provided useful advice along the way (eg on lighting, irrigation, tiles, bricks, fencing). She understood our brief and has installed a garden which not only looks good but also provides a low maintenance solution for us so we can spend more time enjoying the garden than gardening.... Steve heads up the installation team. Reassuringly of all the people who were involved in the refurbishment of our home they didn't require extra time or damage anything they just cracked on. When we needed extra top soil they had the contacts to get it in the very same day to avoid any delays to our programme. I would recommend the London Gardner for anyone who appreciates highly skilled people, and beautiful gardens! They have been a pleasure to deal with.

Extremely professional from concept to delivery. The project entailed the complete re-landscaping and planting, including input on the lighting design, for both the front and rear gardens of a London townhouse. We are delighted with the result which is imaginative and clever and a unique oasis of outdoor pleasure. Emma and her team were efficient, friendly and completely organised from the start and the ongoing maintenance is a pleasure for us as we see the garden evolve.

Emma is an exceptionally brilliant designer with a very creative but practical eye. We are absolutely delighted with our newly transformed front garden. Emma understood what we wanted (and didn’t want!) in terms of style and plants and overall feel. Right from this initial design stage through to completion, Emma, Steve and their team were superb, very professional and thorough. The service we received from The London Gardener was first class from start to finish. Emma is clearly a very experienced and talented garden designer; she has an excellent eye for what works and what doesn't. In addition, she is personable and approachable. Prior to Emma's involvement, my wife and I felt that our small, newly restructured, central London garden was 'empty' and lacked character. We were very lucky to be able to change this significantly as a result of Emma's expertise and vision. She was cooperative throughout and made us feel like we were all working as a team to come up with a suitable design, rather than forcing something on us that we did not like. Also, despite our rough budget being lower than the 'ideal' amount, she was able to modify the plan and still make our garden beautiful. On the day of the installation itself, Emma's team (consisting of her, her husband and her sons) were extremely pleasant, efficient and quiet. Throughout the day, she kept checking in with us to make sure that we were content with how the pots etc. were placed - and, of course, we were more than happy with what she had done. We are in love with our new garden and have already spent much more time out there than we did prior to the work being undertaken. We look forward to having Emma and her team back in our garden again one day.

I am absolutely thrilled with the work Emma and her fantastic team have done on our garden. It is exactly as we discussed and meets the needs of our family. The project was delivered on time, on budget with ease and a bit of fun thrown in. I could not recommend Emma, Steve and the guys more. Emma and her team did a top job in designing and planting our two patios. Emma chose a fantastic selection of plants and planters that work really well together. The installation went very smoothly. It was notable how much care was taken with the planting and to not cause any damage or create any mess. An irrigation system was installed very neatly so that we hardly notice it is there. We are delighted with the outcome. We entrusted the job to the professionals and they delivered beyond our expectations.

I cannot thank Emma enough for the incredible job she has done on our rooftop terrace. Having got in touch with a handful of gardeners and landscape gardeners many of them turned down the job because of the windy conditions at such a high level. However, Emma on the other hand - wow! I got in touch with Emma, and she came the same day to visit, I had a rather ambitious vision for what i wanted the terrace to look like and Emma worked closely with me and gave me honest, realistic ideas and options of what was possible and within a budget I gave her. Emma made the entire experience fun and enjoyable, her knowledge of plants amazed me. She has an incredible team who are kind, friendly and a joy to work with. The rooftop terrace is now my bit of tropical paradise (in the UK), I had such a crazy vision of what I wanted it to look like and I can honestly say I never thought my once bland wooden terrace could look like something out of Architectural Digest! The dramatic lights which had been installed, bring the terrace alive at night, and I feel as if i'm on holiday! Thank you Emma, Steve and Andy - you have done an amazing job and we are over the moon, it's better than I could ever have imagined it!

Emma Lyne listens carefully to what you want, even when that is not necessarily very clear, then comes back with a well described plan making sense of those disparate thoughts! They always turn up on time, are meticulous about protecting your home and clear up after themselves. The team are made up of permanent staff who work together seamlessly. The design in my garden is charming and I spend hours looking out at a garden that feels like an extension of my home. Highly recommended.

Designed and planted a London courtyard for us. Did a superb job - result is even better than we had hoped. Very responsive, delivered to the promised timetable, very focused on not making a mess of the house and tidying up after. Emma is great to work with - lots of ideas and very straight forward. Emma was amazing at helping us with our garden. With no previous experience of gardening at all we found ourselves with 21m of wasteland and no understanding of how to start. Emma was able to take the few ideas we had and work with us to develop an beautiful garden (almost instantly) - we now have a wonderful patch of lawn, a large 'wooded' area with a mix of imported tree ferns and native UK ferns and a small pond full of frogs and water plants. She brought in some large evergreeens giving us structure, and then worked on a diagrammatic layout with us that has meant that we have been able to manage and develop the garden through the summer months. Every now and again she pops round to see how we are getting on - amazing service and aftercare (and all our friends think that we are amazing gardeners).

We had our garden redesigned by Emma and her team, and we can’t speak highly enough of their service. Lovely people, a pleasure to deal with, and simply excellent at their job. The first thing we look for, from anyone we use to help us, is a focus on quality. From start to finish there hasn’t been a hint of a corner cut, or settling for second best. Indeed Emma’s passion for her work is evident from the first time you meet her. This isn’t someone just ‘doing a job’, this is someone doing something they care about, and wanting to walk away at the end of it as satisfied as her customer. From the first step it was clear to us this was about Emma responding to what we wanted from our garden space, rather than her ‘selling’ an idea to us. It’s quite hard to envisage how a space you’re not happy with will become a space you’ll love, yet everything was clearly articulated, and plans were precise, well explained, and logical. Her ability to bring a space to life is deeply impressive – and that’s the neighbours and friends speaking! Emma is also calm, reassuring and methodical. There were three different parties involved in the garden work, all working to Emma’s original design, so the pressure is very much on her. Inevitably plans get moved due to unavoidable delays, leading to knock on effects for everyone else. In addition it can be quite unnerving to look out the window and see what’s essentially a big mess half way through the process, wondering how Emma’s vision would come to life and whether we would like the end result. Yet she was the person we turned to for advice on several occasions, and at no stage did we feel stressed about all three parties coming together to deliver exactly what we wanted. It’s also worth noting that Emma will have far larger projects to work on in comparison to ours. Yet we undoubtedly felt we got just as much care and attention as anyone else she might be working for.

Emma transformed our tiny London garden from a soulless, exposed concrete square into a beautiful secluded haven. The garden also looks like it’s doubled in size! Emma was friendly, considerate and professional throughout. She walked us through every step and whilst listening to what we wanted, she also guided us into creating something better than we could have imagined. We highly recommend the London Gardener.

Emma Lyne has been looking after my half-acre garden in Cobham since 2008. She was recommended to me by a mutual friend. She has a background in fine art and trained at the RHS. As a result she has an especially good eye for colour and form and a thorough knowledge of plants and soil management. Our aim over the years has been for the garden to look colourful and interesting throughout the year, which we have achieved due largely to her creative ideas and good management of the plants and trees. In recent years she has employed an apprentice, so that he can learn the various skills needed for his training. They have managed to produce and care for a really beautiful, colour-filled garden in just four hours a week. I would highly recommend her for her talents and highly professional approach and reliability.

It has been a pleasure working with The London Gardener on a recent project in SW7. Emma had already introduced her clients to Squareroot Planters' range of aluminium planters and was therefore able to provide us with a tangible brief which included specifics such as preferred planter style and planting requirements. Throughout the process Emma clearly relayed any feedback from her client so we felt confident that we were all in agreement with the decisions being made. Seeing the finished result go from strength to strength, as Emma's beautiful planting continues to flourish, is very satisfying both for us and, of course, the very happy clients.

I have been using Emma for a numbers of years and cannot recommend her highly enough. Her most recent work is fantastic and our garden looks amazing, especially when you consider that two months ago it was a bomb site after 9 months of work on the house. Emma, aka The London Gardener, designed the layout of my new garden, and chose and planted all of the plants (including turf, trees, shrubs and herbs). Emma was fantastic. I wasn't clear what I was looking for other than a hand full of high level thoughts (low maintenance, pretty, variation in height of plants). She took away my thoughts and got back to me quickly with a design and planting suggestions. I adored the design and within the wide range of planting suggestions that Emma shared with me, I was able to pick out gorgeous things to plant on my garden. My builders did the timber and brickwork and Emma met with them before kick-off to discuss the design and then she met up with them during the build as needed (twice, from memory). Emma and team then did all the planting. My garden looks fabulous and I am thrilled with it. Emma has a huge passion for gardens and their contents, and her passion shines through. She is very thorough, works to a high standard and genuinely wants her customers to be delighted with the end result. Emma's knowledge of plants is clearly vast. This meant that I have plants suitable for a London garden and also that she knows when and where to source quality products from. The turf in my garden is so beautifully green - everyone has commented on it.

Emma designed and planted my garden (small patio area) about 6 years ago. I was delighted at the time and have so enjoyed seeing the shrubs and trees mature over the years. I very much enjoyed working with Emma and so recently I asked her back to see if she could help me work out what would work best on my roof terrace. Needless to say she came up with some wonderful ideas. In addition she offered a very professional service, very prompt time keeping, within the agreed budget, all in all an excellent service.

I first hired Emma (The London Gardener) four years ago to assist me with designing my newly refurbished garden. I was starting with a blank canvas, but having lived in Southern California, I wanted to create something that was unusual for London, but reminiscent of the many beautiful gardens I had seen in Beverly Hills. Emma was not only receptive to my vision, but she knew exactly the types of plants and trees that would create such a garden. Emma's extensive research and design skills were second to none. She helped me achieve my vision beyond my wildest dreams (quite a challenging feat with a North facing London garden.) In the years since the garden was first planted, Emma has punctually visited my garden bi-annually, maintaining it as it has developed within its parameters. Emma and her team are always punctual, and incredibly knowledgeable. Many visitors to my garden have not only complemented it on its beauty, but have asked to try and recreate a similar garden in their own homes. Emma and The London Gardener team will always be my first recommendation. She is the best gardener in all of London.

After the builders had left, our garden looked a bit like a landfill site. Emma and her team managed to convert it within a few days into a wonderful place of recreation. Very good advice on which plants to use, flexible in respect to our ideas, always considering what works in practice and is easy to maintain, excellent supply of plants (Emma has indeed figured out her sources). Also very good in communication, always accessible and responsive. I can fully recommend this gardener, a pleasure to work with.

My second, but much larger project with Emma is now complete, and we are delighted to be looking out over our garden which underwent a beautiful and complete transformation under the careful, considered design and direction of Emma. We have exactly what we want in terms of effect, ambience and practicality and within the design are thrilling gems of creativity, and beauty. Throughout, the process was thoughtfully integrated into the overall build programme of the property and it seamlessly came together at all the right times. The process of working with Emma is always fun and exciting, not to mention that I always feel that I am in very safe hands. Her love of plants and exacting standards provide an exemplary service and gorgous outcomes. I really couldn't imagine using anyone else.

I have come across Emma through a colleague of mine who was singing praises about her work. I have to say I was a bit apprehensive as I had a bad experience before but I soon realised I have nothing to be scarred of.
