“We first hired Matt Clark to design and install our backyard, including a lighted deck and stone wall. It went so well that we hired him two years later, only this time to be in charge of our new home's renovation. Matt grew up in Southern Marin and knows so many of the businesses we needed, plumbers, electricians, cabinet makers, etc. and was able to obtain very qualified and talented workers. He keeps abreast of work being done and met with us when ever we needed to talk to him - even on the weekends. We highly recommend him and his company for indoor and outdoor work.”

“My garden had good bones but the plants were all wrong. I wanted a garden that looked natural but well-kept, a tough aesthetic to pull off. I wanted lots of birds and butterflies. Mariposa Gardening has taken care of my garden for a few years now. The principal, Andrea Hurd, started by editing the original sorry collection of misplaced plants, replacing the losers with absolute winners. I now have a beautiful variety of textures, colors, shapes and sizes. Something is in bloom in all seasons. We are overrun with birds and, in season, with butterflies. Her maintenance crews have done a great job of keeping her work looking good. The trees are elegantly pruned; each one displays that gold standard "looks like it grew that way" look. Any special request that I make is quickly taken care of. Sometimes I get treats, in the form of new flowers or vegetable starts (I love foraging in my own back yard). In short I am completely happy with Mariposa Gardening and Design.”

“The work done by Patrick and his team at Equinox Landscape brightens every single day of my life. I love the design, almost entirely suggested by Patrick. I love the quality of the materials and the wokrmanship. We had to modify the project a couple of times while in progress: costs went up too fast once we realized how hard it was to do any digging into the hillside. I also realized I wanted more of a finished look in one area than I had previously indicated. A drought set in and I became concerned about water rationing making it impossible to keep all the projected trees alive. A bobcat attacked my chickens and I changed the design for the coop. So it was an adventure, and in the end there were many changes. The end result though, makes me smile every day. Please work closely with the team to make sure the cost does not go over budget, but keep in mind that this is not just about how everything looks, but also how meaningful it is to you in the end.”

“Neli, Stan, Todd, and others at Interactive Landscapes are fantastic. Interactive completely remodeled our front and back yards, installed a large Batu (wood) deck, a hot tub, a BBQ island with built-in plumbing and gas, artificial grass field, concrete and tiles, and beautiful landscaping/plants, automated drip and spray irrigation, and automated and manual LED lighting. They had great and tasteful ideas provided 3D, color/textured computer drawings to help us visualize the design. They suggested strategies to save money on the design. They led and personally worked on every detail. They instantly respond to questions verbally, in text, or email. We have put a lot of work on our house and hired more than 15 contractors for a large amount of work inside and outside. Interactive Landscapes is by far the best contractor with which i have ever worked. Their prices are highly competitive and their quality is just top notch.--the best i have seen. I cannot say enough. They can do it all.”

“We hired G Family because we wanted to have a local company competent in both design & build to make our backyard a place for our kids to play, for us to garden, and host friends. What we got was an enjoyable process with phenomenal people who have become like family to create an oasis of play, joy, and peace. Dave transformed many dilapidated terraces into a coveted flat yard space, with a patio for entertainment or yoga and a hot tub/outdoor shower sanctuary. Zach is an absolute dream to work with, plus a plant genius. He worked with us to design the most stunning zones of colorful life that perfectly blend zen and pollinator gardens, fruit trees, open play areas, and vegetable beds with stunning rock walls (in a small footprint)! The G family’s execution of our vision gave us the most invaluable gift. “Barry and the Rock Paper Scissors team of designers and builders transformed our backyard from a concrete slab into a functional, gorgeous paradise that the whole family enjoys! We wanted a space that was colorful year round, low maintenance, drought resistant, that would welcome two young children and a big dog to play play play. And of course, a space that was beautiful to look at as well. And boy, did Barry and her team deliver. Barry walked us through the project step by step. She listened to what we wanted, translated that into design blueprints, and walked us through suggestions for plant and grass selection. The final step was for her team to come in and build the vision we'd worked with her on. From day one, Barry made us feel totally comfortable with the project. Her knowledge base is just enormous - from materials to work with, micro-climates of the Bay Area and how to manage large projects efficiently. We couldn't be happier with the Rock Paper Scissors Landscape Design Build team, and we couldn't be happier with our new backyard.
