We have worked alongside Lighting By Plum for many years installing their lighting schemes. From new builds to retrofitting into older historic properties the creativity that goes into to every design is astounding. The team are always very helpful and we always look forward to completing projects with them.

Plum helped us with the design and procurement of lights throughout our new build. It wasn't 100% straightforward as there were some vaulted ceilings etc, but they produced a design that was just what we looking for. Everyone was very easy to work with, helpful and professional. Would definitely recommend.

We brought in Mike and the team to develop a lighting plan for our self-build, since it was obvious that a series of ceiling mounted spots in each room was not going to do our architect's house design justice! We used Plum to design the lighting for our lounge and hallway after stumbling across their company on the internet. We were so impressed with the concept that they came up with and the final result, that we got them back to design the lighting for our garden. It has made such a huge difference to the ambience and feeling of space, which is going to be very welcome as we approach the winter months! Plum were extremely knowledgable, very responsive and we liked that they were mindful of our budget and weren't necessarily keen to propose the most expensive option but instead provide a range for us to choose between. All in all, we felt it was great value for money and if we were to embark on another house renovation or build we would employ their services without question.

We extended our home in 2007 and while the extra space was lovely, the lighting in the new rooms was very flat. When we started a new extension in summer 2020 we contacted Lighting By Plum early on and the end result was simply stunning. Mike was recommended to us by our Landscape Designer to design and advise on a lighting plan for a newly created Garden. We found Mike to be extremely pleasant and always returned our calls if he was unavailable or out of the office. Mike took great care and pride in our design and also made the process less stressful by ordering all of the components direct from the supplier! Once our Landscaping came to the point of final planting, Mike contacted us so that he could set out the positioning of the lighting to make sure it was discreet but to full effect amongst the chosen shrubs and plants. In addition, Mike also followed up by e-mail asking if we could supply night-time images to show if his setting out had created the right mood for the layout of the Garden. On presentation of his final Invoice we were pleasantly surprised to discover Mike had reduced the quoted figure due to spending less hours on the project than he originally anticipated, which we found to be a very honourable gesture! Mike and the team at Plum provided internal lighting design services for our kitchen/dining room/living area, as well as boot room, utility room, and external lighting around our patio and rear door entrance. The design is absolutely fantastic. We have used a Rako system and Mike has pre-programmed 4 scenes which makes lighting each of the areas really simple. The design ideas Mike had were really interesting and very stylish and really made a difference to the whole area. The cost of the design and the lighting was worth every penny - we could not have come close to designing anything as good... Mike was really good at listening to what we wanted, and was careful to understand how we intended to use the space. He was also very sensitive to our budget, offering a ton of ideas in different cost brackets. I could not recommend Plum more highly. Bravo!

Mike and Toria advised on the lighting array for a barn undergoing refurbishment. The main barn in particular needed a complete rethink of the lighting design. Mike came up with suggestions which when implemented have given the beams and features a wow factor. A long overdue review however, I met Toria through a network meeting back in 2014, her technical knowledge and great ideas along with her likeable and bubbly personality encouraged me to hire her services for my own renovation project in 2015-17. As an Interior designer I had a very clear idea of the lighting scheme and effect `I wanted but needed Toria's technical knowledge to realise the desired effect. She also put forward some of her own ideas that I hadn't thought of that worked extremely well. I cannot recommend Toria and Mike enough, they are extremely professional, knowledgeable and you will always feel comfortable asking them anything relating to lighting!

We have always known that great lighting can make an average house great, and a great house amazing - equally poor lighting can make a great house poor etc etc. Thus we are passionate about lighting - but after our wonderful luck in finding Mike and LBP - we realise that we had failed miserably up to now! We cannot praise Mike and the whole LBP team highly enough. Our lighting is simply stunning and takes our wonderful house to an entirely different level. Mike is hugely knowledgeable, creative and imaginative, yet practical and so easy to work with. That’s not just us saying that; our builder and marvellous electrician (tho’ sceptical at the outset with some ideas!), are now huge fans and their eyes have been opened to the ‘possible’. Mike is also a fantastic communicator, nothing is too much trouble, and he holds the total respect of our whole building team - some achievement! We engaged Lighting by Plum to work with us and our builder on our recent extension project. Toria and Mike were extremely responsive and easy to work with. They were good at listening to our ideas, adding in their own, and helping us refine things until we had a really good plan. They then helped us with the selection and ordering of fitments (making it a lot more manageable than it would otherwise have been), and worked very constructively with the builder's electrician to get them fitted right. The end result has been that the lighting is a highlight of our whole project and has proven to be a "wow" factor that people remark on when they see it for the first time. Without their input, I think we would have had an adequate, but more mundane, run of the mill, lighting scheme. We consider the money we put into this was well worth it. We were very happy with their work and glad to have them involved in our project.

I would highly recommend Lighting by Plum. I was looking for external lighting in my front garden to feature and highlight trees and the entrance to my garden. Mike was very knowledgeable and always gave excellent customer service. The timelines I was given were adhered to and the work was carried out very professionally. We used Lighting by Plum during our house renovation, Mike and Tori had clever ideas as to how to really use lighting to enhance the space as well as zone each area if open plan. We love their lighting ideas, some really simple and I now spent time mesmerised at the different lights and atmosphere created!! We were building a new house and, realising the importance of lighting to the final finish and mood of our big dream project, decided that we didn't really like the architect's 'airport landing lights' rows of spots in the ceilings but weren't sure what to do instead. So we booked on one of Lighting by Plum's free workshops (advertised here on Houzz) to see what we could learn and came away bursting with ideas and possibilities. We had no real idea about the range of lighting on offer, the importance of ensuring uniform lighting shades and compatibility of switches to dimmers to ensure everything worked properly. We really warmed to Toria and Mike and, because of the scale of our project, decided that it would be money well spent to get their professional input. We are very glad we did. We now have very warm, welcoming, layered and interesting lighting in our brand new home and we are delighted with the finished product. Toria and Mike were great at negotiating, ordering and chasing delivery of the various bits of kit required and we would not hesitate to recommend them.

I hired Lighting By Plum to design all the lighting for our complete house renovation. From the start I could tell Mike cared about what he did and about getting the final look for his clients. Our project was an extensive house refurbishment, including a kitchen extension and loft conversion. We knew that getting the lighting right would be key, but we felt overwhelmed by what needed to be done. Lighting By Plumb were recommended by our architect and proved to be exactly what we needed. Toria has so much energy and her enthusiasm is infectious. It was a long build, but we felt at ease with Toria and she explained everything thoroughly. Her ethos is to make the client happy. She would research ideas and concepts and come back with suggestions that were creative and unique for us. We found Toria to be a good counterfoil - she would listen carefully to our ideas and requirements, would then come back with options that would work (and also explain why some wouldn't). She was forthcoming with suggestions of her own, but she also readily adapted our suggestions. We felt we had a strong creative partner. As well as good creative input, including how the lighting impacts on the wider design, Toria also has strong technical understanding, which meant she was equally at ease coordinating with the on site trades on installation requirements. Toria specified and ordered the light fittings and dealt promptly and efficiently with any problems with incorrect or damaged deliveries. This practical support was equally as important as the creative input. Toria's husband, Mike, is on board now and they make a great team. We found them both to be dynamic, on top of changing trends but also classic styles and all done with a polite, respectful and caring approach. We couldn't recommend them more highly.

I underwent a major house renovation in Sept 2015 and decided that lighting was very important to me as a final finishing touch. I was looking for an expert in providing me with the different atmospheres and levels for lighting my house. Toria was very approachable and a pleasure to work with. She came up with many creative suggestions that I wouldn't have considered alone and was very knowledgeable about light specifications and how the lights would be used to best effect. She also considered my needs and incorporated my ideas too. The lighting plans were professionally produced. Toria had to work closely with a very difficult builder (!) but she always maintained her professional manner and directed him well. The overall lighting plan was magnificent and has added the extra wow factor to the house and elevated it to a luxury level. Visitors are enthralled by the different levels of lighting achieved and it is especially lovely at night with low level lighting on the ground floor and also the garden is lit cleverly in the background. I am a very satisfied customer and I would not hesitate in recommending Toria as a lighting consultant.

We commissioned a new house to be built and early on in the project we realised we needed to obtain professional advice for the lighting in the house. Lighting by Plum was recommended to us and Toria came and designed the lighting for each room using our architects plans well before the 1st fix electrical work. We had to install all low energy lighting in the house and Toria was able to source high quality bulbs and fittings all in warm white. She had innovative ideas and suggestions and we are so pleased with the lighting in our new house. She was always professional but very friendly and reliable.
