About Us

We have over 4 generations of wallpaper printing experience, and are proud to be producing all of our luxury wallpapers at our factory in Lancashire, in the North of England. We’re a family owned business, remaining true to our heritage by manufacturing with the same printing techniques and machinery used by our ancestors. We celebrate and embrace the skill and craftsmanship that goes into producing collections that will delight and inspire beautiful interiors. All wallcoverings are non woven (paste the wall), which makes them easy to hang and easy to strip from walls, whilst all our inks and papers are environmentally friendly.

I purchased wallpaper from 1838 Wallcoverings after looking at their considerable range of wall papers. This pattern is called Fairhaven Grey and was choosen to go in a bedroom as the feature wall. Our home is a relativly "new build" and so we would be going from painted walls to wallpaper. it turned out fantastic. Seemed strange to paste the wall and not the paper, but the paper is of such hich quality it slides very easy without any chance of tearing when matching the pattern. i would not hesitate to look again at walpaper coverings from 1838.

I recently hung a feature wall in a stunning paper from the Gio collection. The customer service by 1838 is second to none and matched only by the quality and craftsmanship of their wallpapers. Each roll is a textural dream. Easy to hang and match while retaining its quality throughout, the overall effect is stunningly transformative. I feel so lucky to have this paper in my home.
