Dan was very prompt in responding to my original request for help with decorative repair here. He attended the day after initial contact. His comprehensive estimate was quickly received. Thorough attention to detail and an excellent job achieved within time scale indicated. He delivered in quality and I am delighted with the overall result. I would readily recommend him to anyone wanting first class work.

My wife and I commissioned Dan for a restoration project on the outside of our property. The property itself had been vacant and neglected for many years and had begun to fall into disrepair, requiring much more than a lick of paint! Dan quoted for repairs to the render, chimneys, cracks, sills and gargoyles as well as repainting the property, amongst a number of other tasks . The quote was extremely reasonably priced and very comprehensive. The quote was emailed promptly and from the start we felt Dan was invested in the job itself, our personal wishes and clearly had a passion for this work. As the job progressed, Dan would routinely show one or both of us the work and documented his work fastidiously. We were kept involved throughout the process and combining this with Dan's eye for detail and friendly demeanour, we had a stress free and enjoyable experience. There was never an occasion where he was not on site when he said he would be there and did leave before the end of the day (we even found him on the scaffold at the weekend frequently - including sundays). As the work was completed, Dan managed (without prompting), the scaffolding company and liaised with the other tradespeople on site (such as the glazier). As we are both working parents, this made the process even easier and rather than coming home to a work site, it was a joy to come back to as our home quickly transformed. Part of Dan's task was to restore one gargoyle, repair another and completely recast two gargoyles. We trusted Dan's knowledge and were not prepared for the quality and detail of the work. They are fantastic and really capture the interest of the those who pass the property! Following this project, we have commissioned Dan to carry out more work within the property and this has been to the equally high standard we have come to expect from Dan. We trust Dan implicitly in our family home. In short, you would be wise to seek Dan out because he is exceptionally honest, punctual, reasonably priced, passionate about his work and you will have an enjoyable stress free experience. In this day and age it is hard to know who to trust and I would hands down have Dan work on our property again. Very impressive work and highly recommended.

Dan Hathaway undertook an entire house decorating project on my late parent’s home in Plymstock and carried out the works to a very high professional standard. The project was priced fairly and competitively and he carried out the works within the agreed time frame in order for me to be able to rent the property. In addition he undertook repairing, sanding, staining and waxing a much beloved oak dining table and the workmanship is excellent. Thank you Daniel.

It was great to have Dan doing the restoration on such a sensitive building, as he showed, not only through his own research of it, but with his clear passion to do it correctly, that he takes what he does very seriously and makes sure that any work bearing his name is to a standard that is acceptable. That standard is clearly very high as visible in the 'before & after' photos attached. This building is the oldest and most important building in Newquay and the history and heritage surrounding it means it had to be restored in exactly the correct way, using similar methods to it being built and by a person that simply cares, has pride in their work and has respect for the nature of the job. If anyone ever asked me for a man to do a job, then I, and I am sure I speak on behalf of my entire town, would recommend Dan. I have had to hire Dan once again for the annual maintenance of the same building. He has just finished and it has now moved into a new era of it's lifespan. Working with Dan beforehand he recommended a quartz based product that protects our beloved building for longer periods. The Huer's Hut, thanks to Dan's amazing ability and work ethic, now looks the best it ever has and is protected more than ever before. Dan clearly is passionate about his work and it's evident wherever he aorks.

Hired Dan to install soundproofing to a bedroom wall due to noisy neighbours. Job was finished on time and I was impressed with the finish, the plaster work was to professional standards. He is a genuine chap and a very tidy worker. Would recommend him.

Dan Recently carried out lime mortar and tanking works to part of our property. We were impressed with the attention to detail, punctuality, and professional way in which Dan works, and would highly recommend him.

I employed Dan to plaster over some old 70's stone cladding in traditional lime plaster, keeping all the while some stones showing through for effect. Brilliant job ! So pleased I found this guy. He's excellent, really know's his stuff. Definitely no need whatsoever to go elsewhere. He's got QSCV ( Quality/Service/Cleanliness/Value ) in his DNA. Highly recommend.

From our first telephone contact Dan filled me with confidence. Not only offering to visit my home within the hour to measure up for the materials needed and supply a written quotation by the end of the same day, but then having agreed a very reasonable price he started within 3 days and finished within a week a plastering job, which I had imagined myself waiting for weeks to get done. I found him extremely pleasant and hardworking and if he drank tea or stopped for a break I never saw it and my wife and I are both delighted with the result of his efforts.

Dan was employed by us to restore a listed clock tower that required re-pointing around the facade. He completed the work to a high standard competently and diligently, would definitely use Dan again in the future.
