Best interior designer I have ever worked with. Amy and her team adeptly used technology and plain old common sense to prepare detailed presentations of every aspect of the design for our home. She was quick, clear, responsive and provided invaluable feedback at every step of a clearly laid out multi-step design process. She made it fun!!!! Pricing is straightforward and worth every penny to be able to see the design vision in a cohesive, clear way - right down to grout selection! Highly recommend.

We built a house and Amy guided us through the entire process. Actually, she made most of the decisions. She looked at the architectural plans and made suggestions where appropriate. We just finished renovating our game room, study, kitchen, and dining room. It looks great because of Barbara Gilbert and Amy Guess. We had no clue what we wanted, what would work, and how to do it. Barbara came to our home, listened to us talk about our goals and then began to show us in our minds what it could look like. We did not know a contractor but she had a name of an excellent company. Barbara and Amy were knowledgeable, easy to work with, and recognized our budget limitations. One of our difficulties is making choices of anything for the house and Barbara guided us, limiting the decision fatigue along the way. When things got a little stressful, Barbara just kept the vision in front of us. Six weeks later, we have a beautiful kitchen...one we could have never imagined. It is changing our lives. We first dealt with Barbara about seven years ago the first time when my wife had decided the house needed new paint and a reviving of several rooms namely the living room, the dining room , all the bathroom and the kitchen. Well she had met this decorator playing golf at a ladies event and wanted to give her a try so call Barbara she did and was that a blessing in disguise. My wife the wonderful person she is can not make a decision and turns out Barbara was not only a great idea person she was a great one to help my wife make decisions. So what was potentionally a nightmare for me turned into a no problem process to a beautiful redo of our house. In fact we are getting ready do do all new flooring , kitchen appliances, den redo and another bathroom overhaul and my wife wouldn't even talk about starting it without Barbara and believe me neither would I. The process for me because of Barbara is two things simple and great when it is done. She does beautiful work and frankly I can never figure out how she sees what she sees out of thin air then it is there and gorgeous.. Great lady to work with no doubt.

Barbara and her team did an exceptional job on our remodel. The home had not been remodeled since it was built in 1987. The kitchen was old and the fireplace had a lot of bring work. We remodeled the entire kitchen, completely redesigned the fireplace and family room and remodeled the card room and bar into an office. Barbara has a keen eye for details. She found us the right contractor, she sourced all the tile and paint colors and chandeliers and made it really easy for us to choose.

Interior Designer Barbara Gilbert and associate Interior Designer Amy Armstrong Guess, Barbara Gilbert Interiors, created an award-winning interior for the Village Park Eco Home Demonstration Project. (www.villageparkecohome.com) The Contemporary Hill Country house is a high performance, net zero-energy residence built and finished with sustainable materials. It is certified Energy Star Version 3, Green Built Texas, DOE Challenge Home, and EPA Indoor AirPLUS. Working with our project sponsors, they selected the total package including all the interior finishes, lighting fixtures, furnishings and accessories. Starting in August, 2013 to completion in May, 2014, their experience, skill and expertise along with industry contacts and good business practices helped propel this project to a successful conclusion. Not only is the house cutting-edge in terms of the building materials, but Gilbert (owner of Barbara Gilbert Interiors) and Guess mirrored the project efforts with a unique design strategy. “We tried to use as many items that we could that are sustainable and eco-friendly,” Gilbert said. The tile above the fireplace is actually a wooden tile, and cork wallpaper is used behind the bookshelves, the floor is from a standing dead oak forest, while bamboo is incorporated into the island counter top. Tiles include natural stone and recycled glass and stone products. In addition, Gilbert used a variety of colors in the overall scheme. “We use gray, yellow and taupe which are neutral but add the more vivid colors in rugs, throws and artwork,” Gilbert said. Their design expertise won them first place in the Texas ASID 2014 Legacy of Design Awards for Contemporary Residence over 3500 sq. ft., and 2nd place for the office/den. Additionally the kitchen won the 2014 Dallas Builders Association ARC award for Best Kitchen under $1 Million. The house was also a DBA ARC Awards finalist in the Best Master Suite and Best Green Built Home under $1 Million categories. She was on time, courteous, friendly, and listened to our needs, then helped us make the right choices. We hired Barbara Gilbert to oversee an almost complete remodel on our home in Addison. The property had been a rental for a number of years and we were moving to Texas in order to make it our permanent home. We were also "overseeing" the project from California on a 1993 property which had not been substantially updated over the years. I knew that we were giving Barbara an almost impossible task but we could not have been happier with her attention to detail, advise, problem solving abilities and the overall beautiful success of the entire project. Barbara had only 6 short weeks to oversee and have all of the contractors finish on time per our standards. I have been in real estate for 30 years and was well aware of the types of problems which can occur in this kind of remodel. There were challenges and unexpected problems which came up but Barbara handled them all. Her communication with us was outstanding and when she did call with an issue she had usually thought of a solution. We love our home and that is in large part because of Barbara. She made perfect choices for us during the entire project during those 6 weeks and she continues to be a wonderful resource as we continue to beautify our home. We recommend Barbara Gilbert without hesitation!

After an interior designer I had consulted for years was no longer available, I had to find a new one for a total house renovation. I was doubtful anyone could fill my long-time friend's shoes. Barbara Gilbert Interiors was hired to decorate every room in our new home, including paint colors, furniture, accessories, etc. Our new house was more than double our old house and we did not take any of our furniture with us. Barbara was awesome at understanding our style and putting together a home we are very proud to show off. She truly created our dream home that we could have never accomplished on our own. My wife and I knew what we wanted but didn't know how to go about achieving it. Barbara is so knowledgeable in her field; she easily took our ideas and transformed them into reality. I can't say enough about the wonderful job Barbara Gilbert Interiors did for us. Since completing our project, Barbara has completed major projects for the in-laws of our second daughter plus a close friend of ours. She also assisted my second daughter and son-in-law with their new home and will be providing Barbara's Design in a Box for our oldest daughter and her husband who live south of Houston.
