“Emma visited us in our new home the week following completion and we spent time in every room attempting to describe the look and feel we were seeking. We set her the seemingly impossible challenge of coming up with design schemes for every room in just two weeks. The mood boards Emma created in such a short space of time are testament to her brilliant style and creativity but, above all, her ability to listen really carefully and deliver what we had asked for. The scope of Emma's ideas included wall finishes, colours, fabrics for all furnishings, carpentry, tiles, floorings, lighting, an attic conversion and new bathrooms. After an hour on the phone fine tuning colours and fabric Emma was able to deliver a fully specified mood board for each room together with fabric, wallpaper and paint specifications. We renovated and decorated the whole interior of the property in just 14 weeks and this was only possible because we had Emma's schemes to work with. Building and decorating costs were definitely kept to a minimum because all the decisions had been made in advance and the spirit of all trades involved remained high throughout because of this. I cannot recommend Emma highly enough - nothing is too much trouble for her and her cheerful, positive attitude will carry you through the process with confidence. Our beautiful home is much admired by everyone who visits, but the best reward is the pleasure we have every day in actually living in the finished rooms.”

“Holly took on board and understood the brief she was given to bring up to date a whole historic house and managed to transform it. Light was introduced, along with the required storage facilities and the occasional quirky touch. She was able to source the ideal fittings, and suggested colour schemes which suited perfectly and enhanced the whole property. The only drawback now is deciding which room is the favourite: invariably it has to be whichever room you are in.”

“Our family bathroom was the worst room in the house and the last to get around to because we couldn’t work out exactly what to do with it. It had been used as a wet room and was essentially one big shower with a tiny half sized bath and we knew we wanted a full size bath but that was about it. We asked Martyn to help and he came up with brilliant ideas that completely transformed the space. He he proposed building a half wall to form part of the shower enclosure, this made for a beautiful shower and great separate space for the basin and pedestal which he built out of a combination of a small reclaimed sideboard and square basin, with taps coming straight out of the wall. We had in mind that we would tile the walls but he suggested making faux wood panelling. This was way cheaper than tiling and looks amazing with the colour scheme he chose. Martyn has an amazing eye for design, he genuinely listens to what he clients wants and comes up with unique, clever and inspiring solutions. I recommend him unreservedly.”

“Lois Skelding at Design & Lo was fantastic and we would highly recommend their interior design services. They also helped with a new plan layout for our ground floor to make our existing kitchen much larger and make the rooms open plan. Initially we were unsure about hiring a designer for our project as we thought we could do this ourselves but as we begun the initial planning stages of the project we found it overwhelming and didn't really know where to start. We found Lois based in Brighton & Hove but were so glad when we found she covered London also (as we are based in East London). Lois listened to exactly what we wanted for our new space. She recommended many design ideas and space planning suggestions that we wouldn't have even thought about ourselves as we were keen to maximise the storage and light in the home. We had seen the design she had done for an extension project in Balham and we really wanted steel windows also with open plan living and dining room. She included this in the design for us which looked incredible. However due to COVID our plans were slightly delayed and it meant we had to re-design certain areas because some materials had increased in price, Lois was on hand to suggest new materials and alternatives which help keep our project in budget! Another area where I was scared to be bold was the paint colours and then choosing a kitchen together with flooring and lighting, I found that there were too many options to choose from...Design & Lo definitely helped us decide on a final design and be confident with our final choices. I thought mine and my husbands styles were too different but Lois managed to pull a design together that pleased both of us which was fantastic!”
