The Department of Architecture is in very high demand and, because of this, it is able to admit very well-qualified students. Our undergraduate program receives over 1500 applications for 120 places, and our graduate program is also highly selective. Cal Poly Pomona architecture graduates are highly sought after by design firms and many gain admittance into highly-selective graduate programs. The popularity of Cal Poly Pomona's architecture program is based, in part, due to its reputation for excellent design instruction, for teaching the technical aspects of architecture, and for its expertise in sustainability, historic preservation, and healthcare design. The architecture department at Cal Poly Pomona is building on these strengths by improving its design, technology and fabrication facilities and by hiring highly-qualified faculty.

Interior Designers Institute is a private interior design college, which was founded in 1984 in Corona del Mar, California. The steady growth of the college can be attributed in part to its reputation for excellence, the need for a high caliber private college and its location in the heart of Orange County, California. Orange County is unique in terms of affluence, progressiveness and overall acceptance of the importance of interior design. Design opportunities abound in the area, which has a multitude of interior design firms, as well as its own design center, Laguna Design Center. It is also in close proximity to the Pacific Design Center, one of the largest in the country. These factors have had a profound influence in framing the Institute's progressive approach to education and its job placement. As a small, progressive college, the Institute has been able to adapt to design changes and trends. It has recognized the importance of active participation and involvement in the major interior design professional organizations, and maintains student chapters of ASID and IIDA.

The BIA Baldy View Chapter mission is to promote growth of the building industry through representation of its members and educating both the industry and the community at the local level. In addition, the Baldy View Chapter shall maintain a presence and influence on industry-related issues at regional, state, and national levels. Earlier this decade, the homebuilding industry contributed more than $60 billion a year to the state's economy and generated 525,000 jobs, but the sharp downturn in housing construction has since cost the state’s economy $27 billion and 300,000 jobs. That’s why the Baldy View Chapter is today focused on efforts to help jumpstart the industry, such as the recently enacted homebuyer tax credit, and to oppose proposals to make building homes for California’s growing population even more expensive and difficult.

SCI-Arc is a center of innovation and one of the nation's few independent architecture schools, offering undergraduate and graduate programs. We are dedicated to educating architects who will imagine and shape the future. The school is located in a quarter-mile long former freight depot in the artist's district in the heart of Los Angeles. It is distinguished by the vibrant atmosphere of its studios, which provides students with a uniquely inspiring environment in which to study architecture and design. An integral part of the emerging cultural hub of a city with a tradition of architectural experimentation, SCI-Arc is devoted to finding radically new responses to the real needs and aspirations of today's world. We offer students a unique experience as they pursue undergraduate, graduate, and postgraduate degrees. Our approximately 500 students and 80 faculty members—most of whom are practicing architects—work together in a fluid, nonhierarchical manner to re-think assumptions, create, explore and test the limits of architecture. The professional degrees awarded by SCI-Arc—the B.Arch degree and M.Arch degree offered through the M.Arch1 and M.Arch2 programs—are accredited by the National Architectural Accrediting Board (NAAB) and by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC). The 2013 America’s Best Architecture Schools survey from DesignIntelligence ranks SCI-Arc as #1 graduate and undergraduate architecture program in the Western US, with national rankings placing it at #2 undergraduate and #6 graduate program overall. Based on the architecture skills assessment survey, SCI-Arc is ranked #1 in computer applications, construction methods & materials, and cross-disciplinary teamwork, #2 in design, #3 in analysis & planning, and #4 in research & theory, and sustainable design practices & principles.

Since our establishment, the USC School of Architecture has excelled in offering a solid foundation for success for all of our graduates. Our program gives students numerous degree options to best pursue their individual interests and goals. All undergraduate students may choose between two distinct bachelor degrees, and a minor from more than 150 options. Our graduate students may choose from our PhD program, five master’s degrees, two dual degrees and four certificate programs. Through the ongoing success of so many of our alumni, trained within these programs, the School of Architecture has built a well-earned reputation of preparing leaders in our field. Our degree-curriculum — whether in architecture, landscape architecture, building science or heritage conservation — has always been intensive, in-depth and topical, with each program fusing history, theory, technology and design into a variety of degree programs that well-prepare our students for the rigors of the professional design practices. Our graduates from these programs are truly world renowned as the foremost designers, practitioners and faculty in architecture of yesterday and today. We hold two Pritzker Prize laureates Frank Gehry and Thom Mayne as our alumni, as well as Case Study House Program participants, Pierre Koenig, Conrad Buff, Don Hensman and Cal Straub. Countless more of our alumni continue to established themselves as leaders in local and international practices. For instance, to name a few, Emmet Wemple, William Pereira, Albert Martin, Jon Jerde, Mark Rios, Ronald Altoon and Gerard Furbershaw all established their own local offices after graduating from USC, which then quickly grew into practices with world wide reputations for creative, groundbreaking architecture, landscape architecture and design. Embracing the future, our students are encouraged to participate each year in one of our many global studies opportunities. We offer programs throughout the world introducing students to new cultural frameworks that contribute to the shaping of the global perspective.
