The Big Picture - AV & Home Cinema Ltd

I’ve been blown away by the creativity, focus and delivery from the big picture and highly recommend their service. After being recommended by a friend, and after receiving a underwhelming quote from another high-end cinema room provider, I was delighted with their approach to my project. This was a big investment for me, which I wanted to get right and have the suitable wow factor - and I needed someone to help me through the entire process. At the outset, Ciaran and I discussed the brief - with his clear and honest advice on budget, high-level options available and overall feeling and fit for the room for our old (listed) house. They took that brief and delivered renders which absolutely hit the spot - and I was hooked !!! The renders were very detailed and really made the vision come to life. Once we agreed the overall direction, the big picture project managed the lot for me. From the numerous detailed plans and instruction for our builders, to specifications and supply of automated blinds & curtains, sofas, flooring and rugs, lights, doors, cupboards for beer, dart boards, desk area, and everything in between. The automation of the room (and side project for a gym) with control 4, plus the projector, 15 speaker system and other ‘toys’ give fantastic sound and picture. It integrates brilliant with my Apple TV and sky systems. We also built in a laser oche for the darts, and karaoke and dj systems. Overall, I’m very grateful to Ciaran and the big picture for all the work done. The family and I love to spend the evening watching anything from Top Gun through to Celebrity Traitors! I highly recommend the big picture if you would like a high-end cinema and sound system which brings a smile to your face!

Award Worthy Cinema! I contact Ciaran from The Big Picture just after the start of the pandemic when it was a difficult time to do anything for any of us. I had very little idea of what I wanted and even less idea about the space I was creating to house a cinema. I sent him some photos of what I thought would be an identical space and he worked a quote out based on that and based on me wanting something quite special. The quote gave me a number of options from both the lower and higher ends of the home cinema possibilities. We had a lot of hurdles to work through during the process with building materials and complications and Ciaran worked diligently on the phone with my builders to ensure what he envisioned could work with what they were building, and vice versa. Then there were silly issues on equipment that were prevalent in all of these industries at the time and again Ciaran keep me updated at all times and even copied me into emails to and from suppliers to ensure all was very transparent in what was a difficult world at the time. The first time I listened to some music on the wisdom audio speakers in the room, combined with Ciaran’s audio treatment I was almost in tears. The sheer purity of the sound at all levels evoked an unexpected emotional response that I’d never experienced before. The room wasn’t even finished! Several months later from enquiry to completion it was finally time to sit and watch our first movies. My Dad was dying and we had him around to watch the greatest showman. He was in awe and I’ll never forgot watching that film in there with him, the image on the screen, the sound all around us and the total immersion he and all of us felt while we watched it. Controls wise the room is simple to operate for image, sound and lighting, the seating recommended by Ciaran is very comfortable and the room…. Well, it just works as one unit. Every time I go in there continue to be blown away by the sound, the image and the amazing quality of the whole set up. I never expected to feel an emotional reaction but the moment you walk into the room you feel that it’s different, then the film comes on or the music plays and you are transported into another realm of reality where it’s just you and the music/film and nothing else. It is quite simply, incredible. Thank you Ciaran for working with me and creating this space in our home. It is well worth the finals of the Cedia awards that it has reached and in my books it’s definitely the winner! Well done!

We hired The Big Picture to upgrade our cinema system. Ciaran provided a very professional, first class service, taking time to understand our requirements and give us his recommendations. He turned up when he said he would, worked to the timescales he specified and delivered exactly what we asked for and to budget. Even took the time, post installation to ensure that we were completely satisfied. I highly recommend Ciaran and The Big Picture.

As someone who has previously had two ‘home cinema installs’, first back in 2004 and then again in 2012, I was aware of The Big Picture and knew they had a good reputation but was concerned that they wouldn’t be so interested in a relatively small job like mine and were focused more on large-scale installs for professional footballers and the like. This is what had put me off contacting them in the past. However, when I moved house again in 2019 and after not being entirely happy (and that’s putting it politely) with either of the previous installs, I thought that this time I would at least make contact with The Big Picture to get a quote, as I was fairly sure they would do a ‘proper’ job. I also contacted a number of other installers at the same time but Ciaran at The Big Picture was actually the only one who responded seriously to my enquiry. From the moment that we first spoke I felt that Ciaran was the right person for the job. He spent a lot of time (at his own cost) on the quotation and asked a lot of questions, so that he could accurately determine what I wanted. He also spent a lot of time asking me what I hadn’t liked about previous installs so as to assure me that this time would be different. He was sympathetic to my cost constraints and provided me with a number of options depending on how much I wanted to spend. Once we had agreed on the final design, Ciaran provided me with a clear and detailed costing, with several options for how we could proceed. As I had some decent equipment from previous installs, Ciaran was more than happy to use this again and there was never a suggestion of trying to ‘upsell’ me and his only goal throughout was that we would be totally happy with the end product. We only ever spent money where we felt it was necessary and there was no upgrading just for the sake of it. The install itself, despite a few snags here and there (none of which were actually caused by Ciaran, just identified by him during the installation process) went very smoothly and at all times, I had complete faith that he would be able to deliver on our shared vision. As a bonus, it turned out that he was one of the nicest guys you could wish to meet and it was a genuine pleasure having him in the house. We did make a few changes to the design along the way and at every step Ciaran was clear on the pros/cons of the changes and whether there would be any cost implication. He continued to be completely transparent about the overall cost and it is notable that the final bill came in slightly under the original budget (despite the fact that I’m certain Ciaran put in more hours than he originally planned!) I can honestly say that the end product has exceeded my expectations and they were high to begin with. It was very clear that Ciaran’s extraordinary attention to detail and professionalism were key to achieving a good result. Before we had started the whole process, I had been concerned that Ciaran would be too expensive or that things would have to be compromised due to my relatively small budget but I can honestly say that every penny I spent with him was worth it and when I saw at close hand the amount of work that goes into the planning, design and execution of a job like this, it was really quite incredible value for money. For anyone who is serious about having a high-quality install that not just sounds and looks good from an AV perspective but also enhances the beauty of your home, I cannot recommend Ciaran and The Big Picture highly enough. He is a lovely person to work with, extremely detail-conscious and focused and will quite simply deliver the best possible result for your budget. I promise you, if you engage his services, you will not be disappointed!

I’m really pleased with the result that the team at The Big Picture have delivered. Right from the initial consultation it was clear that my needs were understood and factored in to the design. The installation team were brilliant and clearly passionate about the tech. The attention to detail and regular communication throughout the process was top notch. The Big Picture have delivered us an awesome cinema room for the family to enjoy for years to come. I have no hesitation in recommending.

My husband and I built our home in 1997 with an in room system from Linn. As we lived in our home we found that we needed to add and extend the system. The Big Picture did various work for us and each time were prompt, courteous and extremely helpful. The Big Picture worked for us at our home on at least two occasions adding to our Linn System. We have now moved ( October 2015) and will be asking The Big Picture to install a system in our new house.

The Big Picture team led by Ciaran are a team you can trust, from the first meeting, to installation, snagging and follow up service, they have been friendly, trustworthy and professional. They helped with the design and budget, no hard sell, just the facts and where needed a visit to see what might be is worth looking into. We had a large spare bedroom that I wanted to change into a man room, after meeting with Ciaran we agreed a budget and specification that allowed me to install a top end fixed cinema room with fantastic sound and vision. (I’m now unable to stop my friends and family from visiting every weekend) He also supported us with advice on colour schemes and picked up my extras as part of the project at the right cost to make sure that budget did no grow legs.
