“We engaged SJ to design and instal bookcases and hifi shelves in our new penthouse flat in Bournemouth. We approached various firms via their websites before we moved in. SJ were the only people who replied. Two projects: a large bookcase/hifi area for our main room; and a smaller bedroom bookcase. The key issue for us was getting the right design and 'tone' for both projects, plus using the significant available space to best effect. We wanted something both bold and asymmetrical but also practical. We spent quite a few weeks looking at and refining the designs. We were especially impressed by the painstaking attention to detail (lots of fancy computer angles and laser beams for getting just the right measurements and angles), but also SJ's willingness to suggest ambitious design ideas and to challenge our own. It helped that SJ knew plenty about hifi systems and their wiring and logic. A Plan was finally agreed. A few weeks later it was all installed over some three days - quite an effort given our top-floor location. We are more than delighted with the results. A spectacular main bookcase with all the wiring hidden and just the right space for LPs/CDs and the hifi kit itself. The large 'sun' piece at the top built too by SJ works well with the seaview location(!). Note the confident design contrast in the line of the paler wooden struts on the lower unit and the round top-piece. Plus the bedroom bookcase is more than fine too - both similar and different. Hugely recommended, the more so if you don't want 'the usual'.”
