About Us

Brettells has been a family run company for 180 years. We produce solid timber staircases at competitive prices with exclusive designs of balustrades and handrails. Brettells staircases are produced from PEFC and FSC timbers and are complimented by Brettells own designs of timber mouldings, architrave blocks and skirting boards. We specialise in wreathed or curved handrail, wreathed string staircases and square turned spindles. Brettells are one of the largest producers of trade stair parts in the London area and offer a personal design and fitting service with professional advice within the M25 and the Home Counties.

Services Provided

The company manufactures, installs and polishes wreathed or curved handrails for private and public buildings. We design, build and install wreathed string and elliptical staircases with bespoke hand turned stair spindles for many interior design companies in central and west London.

We used Tony Moynihan of Brettell & Sons to restore the Victorian handrail at our clients home in Brook Green and he did a fantastic job. It really looks good and ready for the next 100 years.

Very good - installed a complicated handrail and landings, also took on various complicated bits the builder didn't want to know how to do - end result stunning. Addendum to this review (1/5/2015) It is with great sadness that we have heard of the passing of Rob Brettell. We worked together with Rob and his team at H Brtettell and sons, and he produced and oversaw the most magnificent staircase at Kylemore House as mentioned above. He was a delight to deal with - dry and knowledgable, and we send our heartfelt best wishes to his wife and family.

We moved into our flat in hampstead and we needed the two handrails and all the spindles of our staircase changed and upgraded significantly. The ideas and options on what materials and designs to use were inspiring and Provided by Brettell & Sons. The final work and outcome was extremely pleasing and the pricing of the work was very reasonable. I would strongly recommend Brettell & Sons to others. The owner of the company, Rob also came on site to ensure all was perfect. Many thanks Rob and team. Payam Malayeri

Commented: What wood has been used to make this staircase? ThanksEngineered softwood for the treads and straight strings, laminated ply for the wreath and tulipwood for the handrail, newels and spindles.
