iD Upholstery combines the joint talent of a third generation upholsterer, Mark, with an experienced designer, Jo. Mark grew up surrounded by upholstery tools and fabric and was helping his dad from the age of 13. He was taught the traditional craft of upholstery and by the age of 16 was fully qualified. He has the ability to work on antiques and restore pieces using traditional materials but he also loves to use those traditional skills on modern pieces which results in beautiful craftsmanship. Jo’s favourite subject at school was Art and she went on to study Art & Design which led to a degree in Graphic Design and Advertising. After working on some top brands and winning some industry awards, she then decided to turn her skills into more colour and fabric led work. Jo then worked for John Lewis assisting clients to select the right style of furniture and fabrics to complement their home. Mark and Jo both have years of experience and with their combined talents they create bespoke and unique furniture suited perfectly to their client's taste and requirements. They have worked in both domestic and commercial environments in the UK and have also shipped their furniture designs abroad. iD Upholstery is a small family run business. Jo and Mark pride themselves on being open, friendly and approachable. They offer a very personal service and have great attention to detail and as a result, they have a list of delighted customers who happily recommend them to friends and family.

Polly Granville is a bespoke upholstery studio committed to restoring and reinventing old pieces of furniture. Using innovative detailing and beautiful fabrics they can upholster unusual frames to create extraordinary and contemporary pieces. Each chair frames is chosen for its individuality and style. It is then sympathetically restored and reinterpreted by stripping it right back and carefully re-building it, layer by layer using modern or traditional methods. Collaborating with specialist craftspeople who share the passion of keeping traditional skills alive, each piece created is utterly unique. They work with Interior Designers, Architects and private clients on projects that are tailor made for an individual space and budget. With an eye for the unusual and a meticulous attention to detail each project becomes a functional work of art: be it large insects laser cut in felt nestled onto the back of chairs, Sultans’ heads digitally printed in velvet staring out at you or 450 miniature shell buttons hand sewn onto wool you will be surprised and delighted by the twists given to each piece

It all started with the love for antiques markets and fairs, the thrill of finding original, interesting tired chairs and bring them back to use.... Then the CASS, London Metropolitan University, supported by the Worshipful Company of Upholders, taught me the skills of traditional and modern upholstery and I was awarded a prize on my first year for the traditional upholstery of a Victorian armchair. Now my house being filled with chairs, my business set up and the word of mouth spreading, I take pride in receiving client's pieces and enjoying their satisfaction in seeing them transformed wether being a recover or a full reupholstery. My clients seem to appreciate my help to source fabric, commenting on my understanding of their style, getting it right according to their interior, where the piece will be placed and used...I did manage to convince one client to repaint their living room walls and change their cushions for the room, a little bit of interior design there too! The addiction to chairs comes with the love for fabric... I upholster in North West London, have a look at www.stapleandtack.com to see my previous projects and fabric favourites.
