Express was started in 2007 by Steve Bromberg and his father, who spotted the emerging trend of bi-folding doors, and a gap in the market for quality UK-manufactured products created quickly. Express is family owned and managed, and it manufactures all its products in the UK as well as offering an installation service - a rare attribute in the market.

Initially, we were blown away by the customer service, the product quality, and the value for money that Express Bifolds promised. We visited their Leeds showroom in June 2023 and met with the sales representative, who dazzled us with a tour of their amazing showroom, showcasing examples of all the doors and windows they manufacture, installed into mock houses. We even provided architect's drawings to ensure an accurate quote.
However, our excitement quickly turned to frustration when discrepancies arose. The structural engineer raised concerns about the doors' self-supporting capabilities, contradicting the information provided by Express Bifolds. Despite their marketing materials claiming no load on the door's head, additional support was indeed required, leading to additional building costs.
The surveyor's visit revealed unforeseen expenses, including super-dense insulation battens required along the base of the door, and a bespoke aluminium pressing to fill the gap between the door and window, another unexpected cost not factored into the original quotation. Given the architectural drawings and the necessary steel beam, there was no excuse to exclude this from our initial conversations. At the very least, we should have been made aware of these costs at the quotation stage, not after committing to the doors' manufacture.
On the day of installation, the installers were unable to align the finishing strip for the upper triangular window with the building fabric, leaving us with yet more expense. Their oversight in forgetting essential parts to complete the installation further compounded our frustration.
However, the most significant disappointment surfaced after the installers left. Within minutes, we discovered inch-long scratches around the entire perimeter of almost every glazing unit, consistent with the installers' movements during installation. Despite providing irrefutable evidence of the time the photos were taken in relation to the installers leaving the site, Express Bifolds strongly denied responsibility, resorting to ludicrous claims that somehow someone or something else caused the damage.
Attempts to resolve the issue were met with dismissiveness and a refusal to acknowledge accountability. Even after one of their engineers confirmed the scratches were most likely caused during installation, Express Bifolds remained obstinate, offering solutions as a “gesture of goodwill” and absolving themselves of any responsibility.
In conclusion, our experience with Express Bifolds has been nothing short of a nightmare. Their lack of transparency and refusal to accept responsibility for their mistakes have left us utterly disillusioned. We caution future customers to inspect every inch of the glass and surrounding framework before signing anything off. Once the handover documentation is signed, there is clearly no chance of a resolution if any issues are found. Based on our experience, we cannot, in good conscience, recommend Express Bifolds

We've had a jammed door where we cant…
We've had a jammed door where we cant enter or leave the house form the garden at all (not ideal for cats) the wait time to be seen is over a month, incredibly hazzardous - they're clearly understaffed...even if you think you're getting a good deal don't bother because the aftercare is atrocious and v bad for safety - if there were a fire it would be incredibly high risk

This was the first phase on our house and the expectation that the follow on phases would be worth in excess of £150K including a second house we are embarking on building. This phase was the replacement of 30 windows, 3 french doors, 2 bifolds and a large 4 pane sliding door.
Given the overall value we went through a tendering process and selected Express Bifolds, not on price but on promises on delivery and the excellent pre-sales support. We were led to believe that installation would take 1.5 weeks and in the end it took over 10 weeks. We had weekends disrupted as the team could only work weekends and this meant we cancelled a family gathering over the bank holiday weekend.
The team on site were great but the office doesn't have a clue, I have contradictory emails and you never know who to talk to. Unlike their competitors you never have a project manager to support you through the process.
Looking at other reviews I thought I might have been unlikely so was prepared to place an order for the next phase if I could have an explanation and a guarantee from the Managing Director. Unfortunately it seems he doesn't talk to customers.
This company has grown very rapidly and they have either become complacent or more likely just out grown their processes which is the current industry view. What is the truth however is that this job was too big for them to manage and they are not interested in doing my other projects.

Having purchased aluminium anthracite 3 panel lift & slide doors and 2 windows from Express Bi-Folding Doors here is my review.
The lift & slide doors are very good providing effortless movement in sliding 2 of the 3 doors. However, after installation I would like to advise potential customers the issues we have incurred. One of our windows has an issue with the powder coating application where bubbling is observed. Unfortunately the after sales advise is that "All our powder coated products are supplied and inspected in accordance with industry standard practice and guidelines." What this means is that if you are unable to view the defect from 3 meters (inside) or 5 meters (outside) you have to accept the defect on the powder coating.
Also observed and extremely disappointed in that the powder coating seems easily chipped & scratched. My expectation was powder coating is a very durable finish. The chipping is caused by the locking door handle hitting the adjacent door when moving the door handle from the unlocked position to the locked position, with good design this scenario would not occur. The after sales solution was to provide a touch up pot.
To conclude the entire after sales process has been dreadful, you never deal with a named individual and they have no interest in your concerns, they just want you to go away.

Express Bifolding Doors provided all the glazing for my recent home renovation, it was my first time project managing a renovation this big but the team at Express were so helpful and offered me some amazing advice at the start of my project. The sales team are so friendly and knowledgeable, Charlotte in particular was brilliant! After the initial deposit was paid they were super fast with getting a surveyor to site and the installation process was so quick and efficient. The whole job was completed in such a profession manner, I couldn’t be happier with the end result and I get so many compliments on my windows and sliding doors. Thanks Express! I couldn’t recommend them enough!

We are delighted with our slimline XP Glide S sliding doors (2 and 4 door), eco fixed pane and curtain walling manufactured by Schueco. German engineering at its finest.
On the other hand, we have been left suitably unimpressed by the service at the hands of Express Bifolding Doors (the Express service can only apply to Bifolding doors...it has taken 435 days to sign off our sliding doors...)
-Alignment and snagging completed 4 months and 2 days after scheduled 2-day installation commenced.
Crews would not arrive prepared with parts and project knowledge to successfully complete the installation/repairs in spite of our repeated insistence with after care. The crews, all decent and hardworking, cannot possibly be held accountable for the back office and after care incompetence. Special shout to Radu, a true pro!
-3 months to investigate and escalate a powder coating defect.
EBFD seemed oblivious to reconcile their responsibility for the resolution of the issue, however a formal complaint would soon put this into its rightful context.
This was followed up promptly next day with a verbal rescue plan, however it would be 282 days and two customer follow ups later that a formal written response would ensue by which time the company had decided to retract a verbal gesture of goodwill.
-2 month wait for replacement profiles with the 8th revisit abandoned by customer on Health & Safety grounds when EBDF scheduled a crew of 2 to reinstall 4 door sliding doors weighing in excess of 236kg that had taken a crew of 4 to install...
Worse still, in erratum, EBFD had only ordered one profile when 3 reports (crew/customer/Senior Project Coordinator) on file all corroborated both doors were affected by the ‘bloom’ around the pull handles.
-6 week further wait/delay for erroneous profile by which time, some 8.5 months post-installation, lockdown was upon us which inadvertently added 2 months to our project.
By the end of May 2020, our profiles had been fully replaced and all that stood between us and completion was a beauty strip!
This would add a further 3 months and 2 visits to order, customise and fit and by the end of August 2020, 13.5 months after installation started, our repairs were eventually complete.
Without consulting the customer history again, EBFD deemed a fitting conclusion to this enduring fiasco would be to issue an outstanding invoice for installation! To be expected really from a company that on the day its crew doesn’t turn up for its scheduled appointment invites you to watch them on Grand Designs later that evening!
EBFD waived the fee, unsurprisingly attributing the majority of delays to the profile supplier and issues of an aesthetic nature (with naturally little to no recognition of the failings and delays at their own hands) despite their investigations never reaching consensus and the contract being between EBFD and us, the consumer, and the onus being on EBFD to resolve the defect.
EBFD claim best efforts had been made and always with our best interests in mind, however actions speak louder than words.
The fact remains it would take 435 days, 11 scheduled revisits, 3+hours of telephone calls (before we consider emails), to sign off our project.

Ordered two very expensive bi folding doors a several years ago. A year later the locking mechanism failed on a door. We weren't happy but agreed to pay for a service engineer to come out and replace the mechanism. It has broken again, i would say the products are not fit for purpose as the door is a back door and hardly used. I now have two failed mechanisms. The company wont come out unless i pay yet again which i am not prepared to do.

All orders that we supply & fit come with a comprehensive warranty as our teams are fully trained in the fitting of our doors, as it is essential that this is done correctly from the outset. Awful experience with this company - unsuitable upstand for roof light - our builder had to construct his own, bay window made 20 cm too short, waiting weeks and weeks for return visits to finish off pieces and fix windows that have dropped and are not closing properly. Still in thick of trying to get work completed - have been offered the next visit in August - the windows were fitted in May! Avoid.

I am afraid we can not recommend Express Bi-folding Doors. The sales process was efficient and friendly. However once our order was confirmed and deposit taken, things went downhill for us. We had difficulty firming up on the order and delivery date - and had to elevate things. A more senior person took over and got things back on track, but it was a painful process. The installation was problematic. I think the fitters are more used to working on a building site, not within a home environment, and didn't take very much care. They caused damage to our decking, which had to be replaced, and we had quite a bit of clean-up to do, including getting carpets steam-cleaned. It took three visits to complete (spread out over a 3 week period), due to mistakes in the delivery of materials. On each occasion, several items were forgotten. Most of the fitters made an effort and were friendly and cheerful - but not all. One in particular really didn't want to be there, and made it obvious. It wasn't all bad. We experienced a mix of helpful people and unhelpful people. The doors themselves are good. But overall the process was painful, and we have incurred considerable additional expense to rectify the damage.
