Yorkshire Countryside Family Garden

Originally this converted stone barn was marooned amongst acres of sloping fields with open unfocused views.

The new garden anchors the barn giving it intimacy and enclosure. It softens into a new grassy land sculpture beyond (great for the children who call it the ‘telly tubby’ hills) which in turn gives way to small coppices of white birch and pine acting as a wind break and relating the new garden to its surroundings.

The extensive herbaceous plantings in this Yorkshire country garden keep the colour running through the seasons from May to September. Alliums, nepeta and salvias start the season, running through to the later flowering agapanthus, persicaria and purple loosestrife.
