Although the floor space of this ensuite appeared quite a good size, the room had quite a few 'quirky' slopes that made designing the layout slightly more challenging. Originally only housing a bath, the brief was to ensure we could accommodate a bath and shower. One of the first things we did was to change the obscure glass to clear glass to make the most of the wonderful views surrounding the house. This made an instant impact as the room suddenly became lighter. The slopes in the ceiling made the room feel a bit 'busy' with all the various horizontal and vertical lines so the key concept idea was to 'blur' the lines by removing all the coving and detailing and paint the walls and ceiling the same colour. The chosen colour was peignoir by Farrow and Ball which is a beautiful soft pink | grey hue. By doing this it has made the room look much bigger and brighter. The clients wanted quite a traditional design and quality brass fixtures and fittings. By reinstalling a fireplace in the room, this brought the whole scheme together.
