Perryn Road, Acton
The rear extension replaced a failed rear conservatory which was causing overheating in the summer months, and severe heat loss in the winter. The extension seamlessly connects to the existing fabric- by utilizing a ‘brise-soleil’ on the rear which is set on a zinc frame (also concealing unsightly gutters and downpipes). The brise-soleil is a shading device which eliminates approximately 75% of the summer sun from the glazing, yet enables the sun’s warmth to enter the building in the winter months for heating. The project also involved extensive refurbishment of the existing ground floor of the house, including contemporary bespoke furniture design, and joinery items to the reception rooms.
