This study room was created by removing a wall and replacing it with Crittall style folding glass doors opening up the space making it feel much larger. We built wall to wall, floor to ceiling bookcases for the client's many books and created a faux fireplace painted to look like black marble. A large white silk lamp shade hangs from the ceiling. A Gallery wall of art work and a mid century burnt orange wingback chair complete the room.

Seahorses is a stunning new home near Falmouth enjoying magnificent panoramic views of the south coast seascape. Sitting on the clifftops within an AONB, the house and gardens occupy a gently sloping site that connects with the adjacent South West Coastal Path. The context and terrain of the surrounding landscape informed the design and an imaginative and ambitious solution to site levels was crucial to the success of the scheme. As a result, the completed house is lower than the original, thus creating privacy for the occupants whilst still respecting neighbouring homes. The split-level, linear design is carefully organised around a spine wall of local granite that runs from the exterior of the building through the interior. This arrangement allows the living areas and bedrooms to connect with the landscape and integrate seamlessly with outdoor spaces. A mix of grasses, sedum and indigenous coastal plants on the green roof help to embed the building into its surroundings. The palette of natural materials creates a layered, permeable effect on the exterior, which will season with time and weather, thereby allowing it to assimilate into its coastal setting. Of equal importance was landscaping, which was integral to the design intent. Sat in the heart of a charming Victorian terrace extension, The Eclectic Kitchen captures the joyful vibrancy of our client’s family life. The bespoke kitchen cabinets are a fusion of timbers, combining exposed plywood wall cabinets with warm oak base cabinets. In the centre sits a spectacular slatted kitchen island with a solid oak worktop, all hand built by our team of skilled makers in our workshop.

This project was all about taking a tired, cluttered bathroom and turning it into a calm, design-led sanctuary. The original space was heavy on storage but lacked character, with dated cabinetry, fussy curtains, and no real sense of style or flow. The new design strips everything back to a clean, modern canvas. We introduced soft neutral tiles in a handmade finish for texture, paired with a striking herringbone marble floor to elevate the look. A bespoke vanity with fluted detailing creates subtle movement, while the arched mirror framed by elegant wall lights adds depth and sophistication. Brass fixtures were chosen throughout to bring warmth and a touch of luxury, from the concealed flush plate to the wall-mounted taps. The layered lighting (including the ceiling pendant) ensures this bathroom feels inviting both day and night. To keep the design practical for everyday family life, we added bespoke built-in storage in the nook behind the door — the perfect hidden spot for all the family bathroom essentials (because beautiful doesn’t mean you can’t also be organised!). The result? A contemporary, timeless bathroom that feels effortlessly stylish yet practical — the kind of space you’d actually look forward to starting your day in.

Simon Taylor Furniture was commissioned to design and make an elegant in-frame Shaker kitchen for a couple in a detached Georgian house in a semi-rural setting at the end of a village in Aylesbury Vale, Buckinghamshire. The clients wanted the kitchen to have modern features and contemporary appliances but for the look to be in harmony with the rest of their property. The 30m² ground floor space had always been the kitchen and it has lots of natural light shining in from two aspects. Ornate architraves surround each of the leaded windows that feature recently restored original wooden shutters on either side of the deep set window sills, making an outstanding feature of the room. The bespoke kitchen furniture was designed, made and handpainted in Farrow & Ball Mole’s Breath for the island and Purbeck Stone for the cabinetry to perfectly complement these heritage features, which were also painted in Purbeck Stone. At the start of the project, the clients specified that they wanted a breakfast area with integrated Shaker style tongue and groove bench seating within the kitchen itself. They have a separate formal dining room, so this was to be designed for more informal occasions. They also wanted lots of storage including a pantry cupboard, a bi-fold breakfast cupboard, pull out drawers for pots and pans and open shelving for cookery books. They wanted to have a kitchen island included for food preparation, but not for cooking and all of these requirements were incorporated within the design. As keen cooks, they also requested top of the range kitchen appliances and Miele Generation 7000 appliances were specified including an 80cm induction hob, 60cm Oven, 45cm Combination Steam Oven and 29cm warming drawer plus a 60cm fully integrated dishwasher. The French door fridge freezer is by Fisher and Paykel and a concealed canopy hood is by Siemens. The worksurface is 30mm Andromeda White Granite throughout; a classic pale granite from Sri Lanka with sharks nose edging that the clients had seen in the Simon Taylor Furniture showroom. A large double bowl sink is from the Zen 15 range from 1810 Company and the Mix lever tap is by Perrin and Rowe, with a further Boiling Water tap by Quooker.
