Seahorses is a stunning new home near Falmouth enjoying magnificent panoramic views of the south coast seascape. Sitting on the clifftops within an AONB, the house and gardens occupy a gently sloping site that connects with the adjacent South West Coastal Path. The context and terrain of the surrounding landscape informed the design and an imaginative and ambitious solution to site levels was crucial to the success of the scheme. As a result, the completed house is lower than the original, thus creating privacy for the occupants whilst still respecting neighbouring homes. The split-level, linear design is carefully organised around a spine wall of local granite that runs from the exterior of the building through the interior. This arrangement allows the living areas and bedrooms to connect with the landscape and integrate seamlessly with outdoor spaces. A mix of grasses, sedum and indigenous coastal plants on the green roof help to embed the building into its surroundings. The palette of natural materials creates a layered, permeable effect on the exterior, which will season with time and weather, thereby allowing it to assimilate into its coastal setting. Of equal importance was landscaping, which was integral to the design intent. Sat in the heart of a charming Victorian terrace extension, The Eclectic Kitchen captures the joyful vibrancy of our client’s family life. The bespoke kitchen cabinets are a fusion of timbers, combining exposed plywood wall cabinets with warm oak base cabinets. In the centre sits a spectacular slatted kitchen island with a solid oak worktop, all hand built by our team of skilled makers in our workshop.

Simon Taylor Furniture was commissioned to design and make an elegant in-frame Shaker kitchen for a couple in a detached Georgian house in a semi-rural setting at the end of a village in Aylesbury Vale, Buckinghamshire. The clients wanted the kitchen to have modern features and contemporary appliances but for the look to be in harmony with the rest of their property. The 30m² ground floor space had always been the kitchen and it has lots of natural light shining in from two aspects. Ornate architraves surround each of the leaded windows that feature recently restored original wooden shutters on either side of the deep set window sills, making an outstanding feature of the room. The bespoke kitchen furniture was designed, made and handpainted in Farrow & Ball Mole’s Breath for the island and Purbeck Stone for the cabinetry to perfectly complement these heritage features, which were also painted in Purbeck Stone. At the start of the project, the clients specified that they wanted a breakfast area with integrated Shaker style tongue and groove bench seating within the kitchen itself. They have a separate formal dining room, so this was to be designed for more informal occasions. They also wanted lots of storage including a pantry cupboard, a bi-fold breakfast cupboard, pull out drawers for pots and pans and open shelving for cookery books. They wanted to have a kitchen island included for food preparation, but not for cooking and all of these requirements were incorporated within the design. As keen cooks, they also requested top of the range kitchen appliances and Miele Generation 7000 appliances were specified including an 80cm induction hob, 60cm Oven, 45cm Combination Steam Oven and 29cm warming drawer plus a 60cm fully integrated dishwasher. The French door fridge freezer is by Fisher and Paykel and a concealed canopy hood is by Siemens. The worksurface is 30mm Andromeda White Granite throughout; a classic pale granite from Sri Lanka with sharks nose edging that the clients had seen in the Simon Taylor Furniture showroom. A large double bowl sink is from the Zen 15 range from 1810 Company and the Mix lever tap is by Perrin and Rowe, with a further Boiling Water tap by Quooker.

Sie öffnen das Fertighaus seiner Umgebung und bringen die Natur als eindrucksvolles Panorama ins Innere. Die Raumaufteilung folgt einem durchdachten Konzept: Während sämtliche Funktions- und Nebenräume im Querriegel untergebracht sind, erstrecken sich die Wohnräume in Richtung Garten. Gegenüber des Treppenaufgangs liegt der Eingang zum Homeoffice. Eintreten lohnt sich, denn über eine große Festverglasung blickt man direkt auf den zentralen Essbereich. Dieser fungiert als Familientreffpunkt und verbindet den kulinarischen Bereich mit der schicken Couchlandschaft. Neben der modernen Kochinsel verbirgt sich ein kleiner Flur, der zum Gäste-WC und zum Technikraum führt. Das Obergeschoss ist eine wahre Wohlfühloase für eine vierköpfige Familie. An eine großzügige und luftige Galerie mit Leseecke schließen sich zwei Kinderzimmer, ein geräumiges Duschbad sowie der Elternschlafraum mit vorgelagerter Ankleide und Ensuite-Bad an. Absolutes Highlight ist die Sauna mit Glaswand zur Galerie. Besonders raffiniert sind zudem die Oberlichter, die die Neigung des Daches aufgreifen. Jeder Raum – bis auf das Kinderbad – besitzt einen Zugang zum Balkon. Dabei hat jedes Familienmitglied seinen eigenen, nicht einsehbaren Bereich. This project includes a bespoke double carport structure designed to our client's specification and fabricated prior to installation. This twisting flat roof carport was manufactured from mild steel and iroko timber which features within a vertical privacy screen and battened soffit. We also included IP rated LED lighting and motion sensors for ease of parking at night time.
