Comme à l'abri du temps, ce vieux mas resté là dans un très beau lieu aux portes du village, dans l'attente d'une nouvelle vie. C'est ce que les nouveaux propriétaires vont lui offrir lorsqu'ils nous confient leur projet de transformation, avec l'idée d'une extension pour trouver la grande pièce à vivre que les vieux murs n'offraient pas. Rien ne sera laissé au hasard, avec des choix de matières et de décoration à la fois dictée par l'existant (sol carreaux anciens conservés, vieux mur en pierre visibles, poutres apparentes) et par les goûts des occupants (entrée « théâtrale », escalier en pierre massive avec un garde corps à l'anglaise..). Ainsi le dialogue ancien et nouveau s'installe sans que l'un prévale sur l'autre. Il en sera de même pour le jardin renaissant après les affronts du terrible hiver 2010.

La chambre: de petite taille, sur coffres et sur tatamis, les passe de l'ancien couloir permettent d'établir deux penderies. La surélévation du sol rend la chambre plus cosy. De nombreux coffres sont intégrés dans ce volume du sol, permettant encore de ne pas charger les murs. Les canalisations et les canalisations passent ainsi sous les coffrages et restent accessibles. L'ensemble a été réalisé en bois plein. La hauteur sous plafond de la chambre est réduite et favorise une plus grande intimité.

Whilst hunting to buy the perfect property in London an executive in the oil industry and his partner chose to rent a well proportioned Victorian apartment not far from Dulwich Park. The client was keen to make his temporary pied a terre warm and inviting but it made little sense to completely repaint or wallpaper. Taking inspiration from the age and architecture of the property, as well as, the modern Victorian aesthetic of House of Hackney, a modern maximalist look was born. Sumptuous colours and fabrics were chosen to make the space rich and cocooning. Ornaments, photographs and art work are displayed alongside the clients' book collection to create a relaxed, eclectic space that can now be called home.
