open-plan living room is for easy entertaining, its walls of glass doors leading onto the pool terrace and highlighting the stunning views and tropical setting. (The doors fold back completely for open-air sea-breeze living, or can be closed to create air-conditioned comfort.) Within the central section, the large over-size built in sofa with cream feather filled seat cushions , timber & hide occasional chairs with footstools, ottomans and a collection of small moveable tables Moroccan rugs adorn the floors of the villa living areas and bedrooms. Hand made fish trap lights come alive at night casting shadows on the white walls. Die eigens gestaltete und in Mineralwerkstoff ausgeführte Badewanne und der Waschtisch überzeugen durch ihre Reduziertheit und geben so den in Handarbeit angefertigten Wandarbeiten mit Gräsern und Farnen Raum ihre Wirkung zu entfalten.

Comme à l'abri du temps, ce vieux mas resté là dans un très beau lieu aux portes du village, dans l'attente d'une nouvelle vie. C'est ce que les nouveaux propriétaires vont lui offrir lorsqu'ils nous confient leur projet de transformation, avec l'idée d'une extension pour trouver la grande pièce à vivre que les vieux murs n'offraient pas. Rien ne sera laissé au hasard, avec des choix de matières et de décoration à la fois dictée par l'existant (sol carreaux anciens conservés, vieux mur en pierre visibles, poutres apparentes) et par les goûts des occupants (entrée « théâtrale », escalier en pierre massive avec un garde corps à l'anglaise..). Ainsi le dialogue ancien et nouveau s'installe sans que l'un prévale sur l'autre. Il en sera de même pour le jardin renaissant après les affronts du terrible hiver 2010.

Whilst hunting to buy the perfect property in London an executive in the oil industry and his partner chose to rent a well proportioned Victorian apartment not far from Dulwich Park. The client was keen to make his temporary pied a terre warm and inviting but it made little sense to completely repaint or wallpaper. Taking inspiration from the age and architecture of the property, as well as, the modern Victorian aesthetic of House of Hackney, a modern maximalist look was born. Sumptuous colours and fabrics were chosen to make the space rich and cocooning. Ornaments, photographs and art work are displayed alongside the clients' book collection to create a relaxed, eclectic space that can now be called home.
