We had the pleasure of working with John Crawley on the renovation and complete reimagining of our home layout in Forest Gate; East London, and the experience exceeded every expectation. From the outset, John showed a remarkable ability to truly listen. We engaged Anthro Architecture last year, to help us understand our current options for an immediate renovation and reconfiguration, whilst also giving options & ideas to potentially extend in future. Consultation started during the height of the first lockdown, and initially I was sceptical at how beneficial the process could be - with everything needing to happen remotely. However, we were super impressed by the experience throughout. Despite having never set foot in property, John’s understanding of our requirement, and the constraints of the property were spot on, and he was able to come up with excellent ideas – creative & exciting, whilst also practical. Overall it was an enjoyable and beneficial experience, we’ll certainly be looking to use Anthro for any future requirements!

We engaged John to late 2019 to advise on a reasonably large project. that would require work to most rooms in our property, 4 bed semi D, adding 50sq meters over three floors, Our first impression was his warm personality and enthusiasm to work with us. Some other consultations left us a little cold. John listened clearly to our brief and added some suggestions to the project hat we had not even considered. He provided us with multiple ideas to consider and all were laid out in an easy to understand manner. At no point did John push any of the suggested plans and made us feel like all final decisions were ours, as long term occupants of the property. Johns knowledge of planning laws is excellent and the advice given was true and accurate. His relationship with the contractor went well, a reflection of Johns own personality. Would recommend.

I worked with John on the renovation and extension of a bungalow. I can't recommend John enough. He is very easy and pleasant to deal with, and really helped to guide me through the process. He has great ideas, and isn't afraid to think outside side the box to make the most of the space you have.

In seeking an architect, our main requirements were: top-quality contemporary design and passive-house standard of insulation, with significant energy savings. This was our third time to build a house. We were fortunate in our choice of John Crowley - the end result exceeded expectations. Having carefully listened to our proposal, John provided much useful advice and suggestions over many meetings. He liaised with the planners and helped select a builder and heating consultant. Attention to detail - internally and externally - was impressive. The installation of MVHR (mechanical ventilation with heat recovery) was a very important element. We were hugely impressed with the final result: a bright, modern, energy-efficient house - which puts a smile on our faces each time we return home! We would certainly do business with Anthro Architecture again!

I have now worked on two projects with Anthro Architecture and have found their approach extremely professional and imaginative. Through their attention to detail they have ensured that the builders were never in doubt as to what was required. This approach made certain that costs were kept within budget and the projects were handed over on schedule to the highest standard.
