One either loves velvet or hates it, there isn't really a middle ground here. Colour and texture is everything - same piece in subtle, smooth tones can be absolutely spectacular, but change it to frenzy busy pattern in loud colours and you can end up with kitsch written all over it. It generally depends what you are aiming for and the room you want to use it in. I find velvet particularly good for classic and eclectic styles. Velvet, just like tweed is timeless and can really bring a design together or simply ruin in, so use it wisely "young Jedi's" ;) All being said, we love it!

If it’s the samsung on the other post it states 50mm to the sides and 25mm above and behind. I wouldn’t risk it but then we had a new kitchen etc installed in our last house before we moved in and the fridge packed up really soon thereafter How much space is at the back though?

Sonia is absolutely correct. I know you are trying to get a ballpark first to figure out an estimate in your own mind but everything is much more expensive now as materials have soared in price since covid. First get the builders quotes (at least 3) and then you can figure out from that which parts you would like to take on yourselves to save a bit. Make a complete list of the work and give it to 3 builders to quote and take it from there. Don't forget to check their references and possibly visit some of their previous clients to assess the quality of their work without them being present.

The only way to work out what the cost of this would be is to either source the materials yourself from different suppliers or get a Quantity Surveyor to work it out for you. The clue lies in the 'from a few years ago' note in your post. Costs have escalated massively. Could you take the dimensions and work it out from that? A close estimate will be good enough. It also depends on your level of DIY skills as paying for any professional work will increase the costs hugely. I just paid a plumber/heating engineer close to £500 to replace a bath filler tap. Be realistic.
