Hello Headers13, Firstly... Looking good! Think you have quite a bit of light!... so I would say based on the size of the room, I'd suggest Down pipe.. I love the off black and Railings but think with the black cabinets it would be too much black... Down pipe I think will be perfect with the size of the room and the dark elements already purchased... . I have grey fireplace and I wish I had gone with a charcoal but it's large. .. If any doubts get some testers... paint onto paper and stick them on the chimney breast, look at them at different times of the day, to see the change in light and what you naturally veer towards... that will tell you what to go for! ... I'd like to suggest a copper, brassy mirror to go overhead... Grey or navy with gold is really spectacular, It will be fabulous when it's finished ! ... : ))

Just a thought, are you changing the colour on the chimney breast? If you are changing the colour of the chimney breast to white too, then the fire surround will look good painted white also. It gives a more contemporary look & makes the room look bigger. As the above comment, you may need to seal the stone first. You can also use a chalk based white paint like Rustoleum. You may not need to seal or prime beforehand if using chalk paint but please check before you begin! All the best!

I am completely new to everything to do with interior decoration and find myself on my own a bit. I am trying to find out how much it would cost to get a stone brick mantlepiece and surround put around my gas fireplace. I have no idea who would even do that...I can't find any purchase options online. I know how I want it to look, but I don't know what the bricks are called/what the pricing options are for different kind of stone bricks...My googling has left me at a complete loss. I'm based in Glasgow. The fireplace itself is in need of some maintenance but is otherwise fully functioning, I'm just investigating how much it would be for the mantlepiece at the moment. Can anyone just even give me some pointers of where to look/who to talk to?

It was sold to me the wrong size and the freeze sits to low, on top of the arch detail.
