I’m with the others; You definitely need to warm up a north facing kitchen, particularly when using white units. I often use a high quality laminate such as Quickstep Perspectives, looks great, is tough and easy to maintain. As for linking to your living area at a later date, if you carried the laminate through a large area rug could be used. However, it is quite normal to have a difference in floor styles between rooms, even when open plan, the key is to get the levels right for a seamless transition. first photo below, kitchen was ‘mussel‘ not white but illustrates the warmth of a laminate floor, (you can add lots of interest with wall colour and fabric blinds). Second shows a seamless transition between kitchen and living areas using different flooring. Third the impact of (in this instance engineered wood) running through entire open plan area with a white kitchen. Pops of colour help a lot.

Personally I think an LVT is a more practical product but if I were qa supplier I would probably want to promote porcelain tiles because it is less likely to limit wood options with the kitchen and the potential profit from a porcelain tile is potentially higher than a LVT.

So it’s oak doors but are you saying the furniture is oak coloured too? What do you want on the floor, carpet, wood, LVT?

If you want to make it cosy go for dark flooring rather than a complete contrast.
