Dear lord, this style is identical to mine, especially the humungous front window, that I am bricking up the bottom third and reducing the side by one pane width. I. Am replacing them with flush sash casement windows in painswick to go with my barn door garage. I intend to do a complete before and after on mine as I don't like the look of the 1960 era but it is all a matter of personal preference so go with your gut feeling and look at hundreds of options on this website. I lived in mine for 5 years before I got to work on it. I love your wood wall and parking, it has massive potential

Could you perhaps step them ie create little raised stepped areas of interest? Should be fairly low cost to do as you shouldn’t have to remove too much soil and then you just add the stone around the edge to give it a stepped effect. It will also create some interest and depth to the garden.

Agree ED, I think design your front garden to take your cars since parking is the bane of existence but include some planting pockets where possible for some tough shrubs. The plant below is “Baggesons gold” a shrub lonicera which grows quick and gets untidy strands but you can really hack it and shape it without killing it so good for any skill level I think

Sorry to hear of your plight. What a wonderful person you sound. It's a great house, and what a garden. Just wondering if you could have a slightly different approach to the overall look of the outside, due to the lack of space width wise. Instead of keeping it a double fronted house, have the large entrance on the left and don't extend sideways. That gives you the large hallway you want, plus loads of room for a downstairs loo, walk in closet for coats and the Utility beyond. You could probably get a full height window in the front from floor to roof line where the Hallway is, such as in your first preferred picture. ( I don't have one the right colour, but you'll get the gist ) It goes without saying that this is a mammoth project and you must get a good architect on board. It will be a long build, and doubtless you would not be able to live there whilst the building work is going on, so alternative accommodation is also something to take in to consideration with your budget.
